Oh the audacity…

November 9, 2011 by rock95seven

I seem to be having some trouble getting Audacity to call up the lame codec. I have followed the instructions on the website but it still throws up the error:

I seem to be having some trouble getting Audacity to call up the lame codec. I have followed the instructions on the website but it still throws up the error:
“could not open mp3 library” or something to that affect/

Anyone else have this trouble? I had to install this software on another computer after my Dell stopped working.

Any help will be appreciated, as always.
Thanks

Vertical vs. Horizontal vs. Leaky Cable

August 25, 2011 by rock95seven

I am curious, (usually all the time, lol) i have been using my SSTRAN on 800 khz wired into the shield side of 60 feet of cable t.v. coax. Which makes me wonder about whether it is transmitting vertical, horizontal or both? I am almost but not completely convinced that it is horizontal and here is why i think this.

The cable is tucked in between the mobile home and the vinyl facing right above the under pining. (hard to explain and it’s raining so no pictures). Although the cable is horizontal , the signal does manage to radiate at least 50 feet give or take away from cable. After that it just drops off rapidly on a car stereo.

Am i right in thinking this?

Is part15.us in maintenance mode?

Firefox browser is ignoring CSS (cascading style sheets) so the website loads all white with black lettering and large blue links. I will see if it looks that way on another computer as well.

Rock 95.7 Fm is now I.P.R 90.1 fm

March 25, 2011 by rock95seven

I am experimenting with a new type of format.

I am experimenting with a new type of format.
A mix of Independent music and Educational Materials from various podcast websites. Some of the material I have been playing for several years now includes: EarthSky.org podcasts,Planetary Society podcasts, Pirates Week, Shortwave Report w/dan roberts, Blair On Air is recent and of course even some old stuff dug up from the internet and used with permission by the creators.

Music ranges from Celtic Irish/Scottish, Rock,Folk, New Age, and well i could go on and on but i won’t because the list would go on forever.
I am also trying to get local artists from Kentucky to add their music to the mix as well, so far that has been slow going.

At any rate, i think i almost have a public radio feel to the station but without the stuffiness found on most public radio stations.
It ain’t NPR lol

To listen online at 64 kbps stereo
http://radio101.dyndns-ip.com:8000/listen.pls
or visit www.rock957.net
as for Rock 95.7 fm, well i am not sure just yet. That frequency has been a headache since day 1. Interference form tropo and high powered stations sharing the channel have been a concern.
We will have to see how that pans out in the future.

Enjoy!

I am still here

February 26, 2011 by rock95seven

Somewhere…

Somewhere…

I just wanted to drop by and say hello and let everyone know I am still alive and well. Rock 95.7 fm is still rockin’ and we have made a few changes here and there, but nothing major.

A slight change to the format, not only do i play rock from a broad range of years and styles , i have started to add Folk Rock, Celtic Music, Old Time Radio Shows and of course the usual podcasts from earthsky.org, planetary society, pirates week and many more.

Carl Blare i wanted to let you know i am enjoying the Low Power Hour and have aired the program on my station a few times as well. Great Job and i look forward to hearing more. School will be letting out for the Summer soon and my wife and i are looking for another place to move into. Somewhere more radio and large family friendly, so far the search has not been very fruitful. I would be happy with a house big enough for the family and perhaps a small building out back or a garage , lol im not too picky.
Anyways, i hope everyone is doing good and i will attempt to visit more often.

As always…Keep on rockin’

i think its a good idea ….but it won’t work everywhere.
Some towns like mine have some interference caused by many different sources but the main culprit is high powered “responsible” FM stations.

Three station’s converge on 95.7 fm when i am not transmitting.
I have tried to used different radios but still had the same results.

Comments Welcomed and Seasons Greetings to all!
