Yeah, ive got my sights on the SSTran and hopefully will begin broadcasting this summer on a.m. and f.m. simulcast.

I like the features of the sstran and will probably broadcast on 1630 khz wich is so far the ideal channel for us.. an alternative maybe 1520 khz but i will have to talk to a friend of mine about that channel .

I used to work for 1520 am when they were am/fm combo WRSL True Country 96 three. Since then the station has been leased to k-love and the a.m. has a new CP for 1600 khz in Corbin,Ky a few miles from me.

They would be on 1600 wich rules out my chances of using 1610 khz.
Also my hands and eyes arent as reliable as they used to be, medical condition makes them shakey at times so i will probably ask sstran to install the 14-lead narrow-body SOIC for me.

I just added a dipole antenna outside of the mobile home mounted horizontaly on my deck. After some disappointing results on coverage, i could see i wasnt anywhere near 200 feet (range wise) with the antenna inside the mobile home.

Too much reflection and resistance caused by wiring and the aluminum siding. I wonder though, what kind of gain a dipole antenna would have if its cut for 95.7 mhz. I am using a 75ohm to 300ohm balun, the kind you get with a tv/fm antenna.

(Last I knew a dipole like this had little to no gain.)

The wire is 12 gauge automotive wire.
Cable is 75 ohm cable/tv coax.

And I feel it should have a attenuator inline as well just to be safe.
I hear no intereference on any other parts of the fm dial or in any other bands for that matter.

So how efficient will this be? By the way, the antenna is probably 5 feet off the ground.
Any input would be great.

I would first like to say,
i’m relieved to see the site back online again and hope all goes well in the future for part15.us, this site is a great place for information on a great hobby.

Second, i am wondering if any stations have ever done this before.
I have a few slots on rock95 that need filled with some kind of programming other than the same old programming we have been playing lately.(usually non-stop rock)

Note: I re-posted this since I knew that it would be possibly deleted and i know that couldnt be helped .
Also I want to thank K107.5 fm for allowing us to carry their programming on Rock 95 it has added a touch of classic rock to our otherwise repetitive playlist.

Again if anyone has a program they would like aired on rock 95 please dont hesitate to send it to us in mp3 or wav format by email.

Well it seems 95.7 fm was great for our signal as long as wqmf fm in louisville wasnt blasting thru here in waves. It seems the hot weather we have had in kentucky has brought with it another rock station 200 miles away in louisville,ky.
Our station is in london,ky and so to avoid interference issues or complaints in the future we decided to move rock 95 to 89.5 fm in the non-comm section of the band.
Careful research went into this decision for our move. Although wqmf is close to 200 miles away on the kentucky/indiana border they are still a licensed radio station and we all know they have the right of way. I wonder has anyone else ever had to change frequencies even if your station had a great signal on the channel you chose first? more later.

Our dell showed up and is loaded with win xp pro (ugh) and is currently running winamp for the time being. The station sounds great with a few plug-ins for sound control. The stations signal is pretty sweet too, considering our antenna is inside our mobile home, wich we all know is a tin can.
Aside from the metallic obstacle we have a signal that covers 1/4 mile to 1 mile at it’s best. After that the signal covers a mile with considerable fading.
Im impressed so far with the fm25b my earlier stations used the fm25a.
It was good but i believe this transmitter is by far better.
