Anyone else have this trouble? I had to install this software on another computer after my Dell stopped working.
Any help will be appreciated, as always.
Thanks

I’ve heard of this before. It is a codec installation issue. You might try reinstalling the lame codec pak through install/remove programs. Also remove any previous install from the install/remove program, that is if your using winblows.
It has something to do with the registry entries being incorrect.

That’s what I see inside Audacity, the brackets indicate buttons, but I’m afraid to push them because I don’t know what will happen.

A easy fix would be to just run a system restore (I’m assuming you’re running windows) and move your settings back about 3 days to before you had the problem.

Sorry, I think I got confused with another post in my reply..
Use the “Locate” button to tell audacity where your lame.dll is.
If you don’t have it.. then use the download
Still no luck
I have no idea at this point why it refuses to work. Even placing the lame codec into the same directory as Audacity didn’t work.
EDIT: i dont know where my head is this evening.
Some reason this software worked fine on my Dell Dimension 3000 with no problems, that is before it completely died on me the other day. I figured it would work fine on this HP Pavilion since it was made for multimedia. Heck it has been running my station with no troubles including streaming.
Try going here:
Try going here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/FAQ:Installation_and_Plug-Ins and instead of downloading the usual lame file try the “alternative 3.98.4 build of lame_enc.dll”
I recall having your problem after I had updated to a newer version of Audacity, and the alternative library did correct the problem after a reboot
Occasionally, there can be .dll conflicts on the computer. Try right-clicking this alternative 3.98.4 build of lame_enc.dll. Choose “Save Target As” or “Save Link As” and save it to “C:Program FilesLame for Audacity” or “C:Program Files (x86)Lame for Audacity” according to where you installed LAME previously. Accept any prompts to replace the old file with the new one. Then try exporting an MP3 again.
Sometimes it’s better coming from the source
Hi guys,
I figured out the problem and fixed it in 2 minutes. Instead of using the Lame Codec from the Audacity website, i went straight to the source found at the following URL : http://lame.sourceforge.net/
I figured if it didn’t work that way then i was going to uninstall the software and then re-install an older version of Audacity from a cd rom that came with a Behringer Podcastudio package. Luckily for me I didn’t have to do all that, which is great for me because that cd rom is in my closet and well let’s just say those closets you see in the cartoons where the character opens the closet and stuff falls on them leaving the cartoon cat stunned and seeing little birdies, yeah that’s my closet. lol
So now that works and i am back in business for production work.
Edit:Many thanks for all the helpful replies.
