Locating Certified Xmtr Data

August 15, 2012 by Carl Blare

A couple years ago I was easily able to locate the FCCs Certification Information for the C.Crane FM Transmitter.

A couple years ago I was easily able to locate the FCCs Certification Information for the C.Crane FM Transmitter.

But today is different. I cannot figure out how to find such information for the Wholehouse 2.0 FM Transmitter.

Maybe you know how to do it.

The FCC # for Wholehouse: XAOWH-FMT

Good luck.

Lacking Explanation

August 14, 2012 by Carl Blare

There are many great nations. One of my favorites is procrastination. But another one I frequently visit is explanation.

There are many great nations. One of my favorites is procrastination. But another one I frequently visit is explanation.

On the new Spectrum Analyzer I can see KMOX 1120kHz 50kW all day long registering 20dBm on the screen, picked up by the 13-inch telescope antenna.

At 8 PM, local sunset, the 20 dBm peak from KMOX vanishes, even though the station is still broadcasting and comes in on the radio.

According to radio-locator.com KMOX is non-directional, 2 Patterns, 1 tower.

A comparison of their daytime and nighttime maps look like exactly the same pattern.

How can they change pattern with only 1 tower, yet be non-directional with 50kW. What actually are they changing?

Stition and Superstition

August 14, 2012 by Carl Blare

I am not superstitious, but every once in awhile I become stitious, such as the feeling I get when I noticed several things about the next scheduled meeting of the NALPB (National Association of Low Power Broadcasters).

The NALPB Meeting is scheduled the Last Friday of the Month…

August 31st…

The Full Moon…

a rare Blue Moon.

It must mean something, but what does it mean?

What Is That

August 14, 2012 by Carl Blare

RFB caused me to think of a very interesting difference between one internet streaming radio station and another.

RFB caused me to think of a very interesting difference between one internet streaming radio station and another.

In whatever blog he posted on, I cannot remember for sure, RFB said he would be streaming the AM Stereo from his C-QUAM system.

In other words, the output of a radio receiver, tuned to a C-QUAM broadcast, would be streaming on the internet.

That is a whole different thing from streaming directly from a computer.

By his method, you would actually be tuned into an AM radio located in Casper, Wyoming.

Even being a mere mono station, I think it would be super cool if my internet stream came from a radio tuned to my AM signal, rather than from a direct computer connection.

At the moment when the sign off was broadcast, the listener would hear the carrier being cut, and the AM background noise arise. Just like life. Just like the true spirit of this radio thing.

Let’s give this some thought.

Low Power Hour No. 42 is in 1st Draft

August 14, 2012 by Carl Blare

It was necessary to issue Low Power Hour No. 42 as soon as possible because it contains Part 2 of the Founding Meeting of the National Association of Low Power Broadcasters.

It was necessary to issue Low Power Hour No. 42 as soon as possible because it contains Part 2 of the Founding Meeting of the National Association of Low Power Broadcasters.

The initial release is V1 and may contain detuned lapses resulting from Carl’s no-script approach.

Upon careful review there may be a more polished V2, which will be formally announced by the distinguished Dog Radio Studio 2, who is busy calculating something in his office. Bruce! You o.k. in there?
