Around 2007 when I first entered the online world as an early streaming radio station there were several early podcasters doing excellent programs which formed my first daily schedule, with permissions of those producers.
They worked hard, achieved high quality, but were unable to monetize their effort and eventually pulled the plug. Except for my memory of these programs there does not seem to be anyone keeping a historical record of what's been done.
Now, 2016, we are experiencing a second wave of energetic podcasts on every subject imaginable.
Several prominent news publications have started weekly podcasts, including Pro Publica, Mother Jones, Counter Punch and The New Yorker in partnership with WNYC.
My schedule on KDX is already overflowing, but maybe I'll try to negotiate permissions to carry some of these shows selectively based on their content.
I monetized just fine. Been podcasting since 2005.
It would be great, macdev, to hear how you began your podcasting and how you made it succeed.
That could be very inspiring to those who have doubts about making their podcasts work.
