I haven't watched the video but yes, the capture effect, which AM doesn't experience.

I've been meaning to come back and what the video since Mark posted and just now got around to it. I had no clue about airline frequency use and did find it to be an interesting video. But I remain confused over his demonstration of broadcasting from two part 15 AM transmitters with one broadcasting mellow music and the other one broadcasting techno music - at the same time, on the same frequency.. he did this to show that both signals were receivable at the same time.. fine, cool...
But why didn't they hetrodyne? I dont get it.
