Switched from random music play to non-stop Kevin Smith Show encores.
Stuph File here also.
Holder really deserves to be syndicated...
We agree with Jim Henry that Peter Anthony Holder deserves greater recognition through widespread syndication.
One program syndicate that does re-distribute The Stuph File is Keith Perron's PCJ Media in Tapei, Taiwan, and since last week we've been wondering about how Keith fared in his high rise apartment since the earthquake over there, so this morning we downloaded his "The Happy Station Show" and indeed Keith spends several minutes describing how the earthquake was strongest on the east coast of Taiwan, even though he felt it at a weaker velocity following an alert received on the mandated earthquake alarm system installed in his building.
You may wonder how it is that KDX carried "The Happy Station" given the fact that the show contains copyrighted music. Well, we shut off our Icecast stream and listened only on our campus FM station which does not reach the public.

Overnight Laboratory
The best sleep is done with no artificial sound in the house, such as a radio. But being a radio station makes it tempting to have a receiver turned on to admire the programming while dozing off.
But talk programming that digs into issues can stimulate responses and can lead to waking up at the wrong hour such as 3 AM.
I found that airing "dark ambient" programming was at first very compatible with a pleasant sleep with sound that mixed in with the quiet night.
But the sleeping brain is remarkably sensitive and even small variations in the background "ambient sound" have sparked responses. In one case I awoke abruptly and thought I had "heard something". Then I remembered that the ambient music was on the air... apparently the sleeping brain had not "learned" to distinquish between real and artificial noise.
Then last night, in the depths of dreaming, someone kept holding side conversations with the person I was with (in the dream). I couldn't figure out what they were talking about, but slowly became half-awake and realized there was a muffled voice speaking as part of the ambient track on the radio. I did not like the fact that a voice on the radio was interferring with my dream, so the ambient programming is now officially banned.
From now on there is no one "on duty" at the radio station overnight, and no one listening.
Pleasant dreams!

Plenty!
I dug out the hit record "Rumble" by Link Wray and the Wraymen, and consider it the best rock instrumental of all time!
If you want to enjoy it there are good recordings of it on YouTube.
Yes, I have it on my playlist. as simple as it gets but simple is good. 1950s garage rock at it's best.
