Emergency Vigil
The "emergency" aspect of the current program on KDX has fortunately evaporated, but the Law of Inertia was already set in motion to hold a Marathon Online Vigil for Julian Assange with major pundits and journalists from all over the world making contact by video-audio conference to speak in support of the besieged publisher who has been sanctuaried for the past 7-years at the Ecuadoran Embassy in London.
Earlier, word spread like fire that Julian was about to be evicted by order of the Ecuadoran President and turned over to British authorities who would extradite him to the U.S. for the crime of "publishing news" by means of his Wikileaks website.
International reaction on social media was so overwhelming under the hashtag #ProtectJulian that an Embassy spokesman declared that the eviction story was "only rumors" and that Julian would remain housed safely.
A massive assembly of police and media had been dispatched to the scene but then dispersed.
Foreign media put this news story at the top of their reports all morning, but U.S. media, including Fox, NPR, VOA and the others completely ignored the story.
The 11-hour Vigil that took place can be found on YouTube and at consortiumnews.com
By removing some music breaks and spaces KDX reduced the program to 9-hours and will air it throughout today.
