Symphony from Germany

For 26-weeks on Sunday evenings KDX Worldround Radio is privileged to bring full-length concerts from Deutsche Welle (German Radio), right now a performance of the Fantastic Symphony by Hector Berlioz which may have been one of the first classical works to explore weird evil madness of sorts.

You see, Berlioz fell in love with a stage actress who at first rejected him, resulting in his writing a work that enters a feverish dream brought on by his infatuation.

As irony would have it I first heard this work performed live together with a woman that I was bonkers about but that's another story.

Coming up will be Harry Schearer who has done a weekly radio program for 35-years commenting on world affairs with a dash of humor.

Then the Ralph Nader Radio Hour tonight about the terrible Boeing 747 Max air crashes, one of which killed a niece of Mr. Nader.

Finally, and through the night, TUC Radio, the fact packed programs from Maria Gilardin in Northern California, housed in a solar paneled straw-bale house she built.

Take a listener out to lunch this week.

As I speak 1:15AM March 18/19

"I'm Goin' Back"   by Kitty Daisy and Lewis

This is a very talented family act from England, sounding like the blues people from the Mississippi in the 1940s and fits into my format perfect. Have several songs from them in the playlist......

Not all more recent music is junk.....just what the radio plays is.

A good song Carl! And true.

Right now at 12:50PM Mar.22/19....

"You'll loose a good thing" by Barbara Lynn....

A true pioneer as female guitar players playing rock and roll and blues back in that time were rare as women mainly played folk and some country. She started out in the late 50s and had a few big hits in the early to mid sixties. Still performs as of a couple of years ago....in her eighties!

This the live version....the version on my playlist is the hit studio version.

Dishwashers

KDX is sending "The Mischke Roadshow" as this week Tommy Mischke is driving around talking to dishwashers.

Although dishwashing is listed as one of the least desirable jobs in the world worse even than being a homeless vagrant, it turns out there are some professional dedicated dishwashers who are very well-spoken, thoughtful, and value the fact that no matter where they go there's always a dishwasher job open so they are rarely unemployed.

I have a dishwasher in my family and she is one of the smartest people I know, so I understand what the dishwashers are talking about.

I myself would be a bad dishwasher, as my studio guests have always seen by the sink piled with unwashed items from the 1900s. Several times my female guests have taken pity on me and voluntarily cleaned the kitchen, but I certainly don't expect them to do that.

Mischke is even playing some songs about the subject such as "The Dishwasher Blues".

The 21st Vigil for Jullian Assange

Every week a gathering of top journalists speak by audio conference to discuss the tense situation surrounding the status of journalist/publisher Jullian Assange still holed up at the Ecuadoraan Embassy in London with mounting pressure to have him brought to the U.S. to face charges for publishing the Wikileaks Website.

The Vigil is hosted by Consortium News to keep the public aware of the ongoing situation.

Each week I enhance the audio feed to have better voice fidelity, remove pauses, and remove musical fill segments to avoid royalty clashes.

KDX is a First Amendment Station.

Roger McNamee and Sam Harris on KDX

These are names we should know. Sam Harris is one of the acclaimed authors, professors, philosophers of our time with his "Making Sense" podcast always conversing with other big names who shape the world. His guest this morning here on KDX was Roger McNamee, a major insider in the development of social websites and author of the new book "Zucked: Waking Up to the Facebook Catastrophe".

Every sentence of this 90-minute program is eye-opening and mind-bending and I'm surely going to air this again.

I feel so strongly about it that I'll give you the choice of listening for yourself.
