I just happened to notice the following script inserted into all my websites online page sources:
— Hosting24 Analytics Code —

— End Of Analytics Code (symbols removed).

I looked up hosting24 and its some hosting service which I never have even used before.. I’ve used only the free 000webhost for years on several sites, originally I just intended to use it for some rough drafts but so far have not noticed any reason to switch to a paid hosting service.

Anyway, after a little digging I found that 000webhost (who obviously must be associated with hosting24) inserts this hidden code as a means of determining if the website gets any activity or not, and if it doesn’t then they apparently will remove it from their servers.

It doesn’t particularly bother me, as it’s the only thing they insert into my website (I’ve looked to make sure!) nor do I have any direct access to those stats of that code (I use something else for stats), but “What is the heck is that?!!” it did surprise me..

I suspect I must have “read” it in their terms of service when I originally signed up with them, but I don’t recall.
I see no harm in that inserted code, and have noticed no ill effects or pop-ups from it, so it’s not going to influence me to quit using them or anything.. but, well, it just took me by surprise to see something in my html pages that I did not put there.

I’m not sure why I’m posting about it here!

I think this may only apply to Rangemasters and probably also the Procasters as a way to expand range.. I actually had forgotten all about method to expand range until just now seeing it again: http://www.am1000rangemaster.com/pdf/synctransmitters.pdf

But it seems there was an instance somehow, somewhere, sometime, that such an install didn’t fly with the FCC.. Anyone have any recollection or knowledge of this?

Does anybody have any familiarity with the original model AETA SCOOP REPORTER?
I’ve come across them numerous times in the last several years on ebay, and just recently snagged one fairly cheap, and I’m trying to acquire some information on it.

Any one familiar with it, or by chance have any documentation for it?

I easily found the manual for the SCOOP REPORTER II, but not for this original model.

All I could find was a brief reference: “The product was officially announced at the AES 95 in Paris. Europe 1 acquired immediately some equipments and put them on the field early April 1995.” (http://www.aetausa.com/pages/Tech-Docs/Reports_Eupore1.html)

I can find no manual or other documentation for mine, however, in visually comparing my unit with drawings in the SCOOP REPORTER II manual – the front appears almost identical, as does the back with exception of 3 additions mine doesn’t have:

– A Ethernet jack? – labled “ISDN”
– A 9 pin jack – labeled “remote”
– and a 4 pin jack – labeled “DC in 12V=3A”

So how bout it? Can anyone shed any more light on my new old remote broadcast unit?

I’d like to find a used digital police scanner to keep and monitor in the studio. Haven’t found a reasonably priced one yet, but I am now wondering if it would cause any interference with my part 15 radio transmission.

I really don’t see how, since it’s just a receiver, but somewhere I read some reference which seemed to indicate that it could possibly cause some interference to nearby radios or tvs.
If that’s the case, then what interference might it cause to a nearby transmitter?

For the longest time have been trying to figure out how I can NOT have my transmitter on the roof of my location. it’s only a single story, and a problem might never ever even arise because of it.. But there’s always the ‘what if..” and Murphy’s Law.
So the hope and goal has always been to try and make certain the install is completely FCC compliant.
And the best option is a ground level install – right?
Right.

Now here, in no particular order, is what I understand to be the most important objectives concerning ground installs for Part 15AM (correct me if I’m wrong)

1.) It’s most effective to have it in the open and away from any tree or obstructions, and definitely should not be installed close to the wall of a building.

2.) Numerous buried radials in the longest feasible length should be employed, fanned out from a central location directly under the transmitter with a 8’ ground rod, and also rods attached at some of the radial ends.

3.) Uh.. see objectives 1 and 2.

OK.. well, I really don’t have the land available to do that; I’m surrounded by sidewalks, streets, and buildings.
But upon seeing this drawing: http://www.mobileers.com/Images/TowerRadialJPGa.jpg , I realized how similar a situation that ham operator has to mine.
The biggest difference (that I see) is that he’s connecting to tower antenna, and I’m connecting to a Rangemaster with a 3 meter whip, which would place it against the wall, but I would probably be able to install about 15 foot or so from that wall, – But the question is could his method work well with my little transmitter even though it appears to contradict objectives 1 and 2 listed above?

What I’m saying is I would be able to set up my ground system very similar to the way he diagrams in his drawing..
But with my whip that close behind a building wall,and below the roof could it still result in good performance?

Any comments?
