My station equipment – But why did I buy this thing?

January 21, 2011 by RichPowers

The last 2 weeks have been a time of buying processing equipment to try to ensure a strong quality part 15 AM broadcast..

The last 2 weeks have been a time of buying processing equipment to try to ensure a strong quality part 15 AM broadcast..
And I think I accumulated good selection (although spent a fair share more than planned to)..
Here’s my list of everything purchased (all on ebay) in about a two week span, some really good deals (never be afraid to make an offer, even if the ‘make offer’ option is not there!). It’s all used equipment (except the cheap new multimeter), can only hope everything is in good operational shape.
Some has already arrived, the rest is on it’s way..

Aphex Dominator 720
Aphex Compellor 301
BBE Maxie Sonic Maximizer Model 402
Yamaha MG10/2 Mixer
Anomaly Phone Jam Broadcaster (phone patch)
Rode NT1 Cond. Microphone
MXL 990 Cond. Microphone w/ all accesories
2 – Sony MDR-V150 Studio Headphones
RDL STD-10k (stereo/mono combiner)
OC White scissor Mic Arm & stand
ICONNEX Portable USB Sound Card Interface
Sony ICD-P330F Personal Digital Recorder (impulse buy $10)
Several needed patch cables.
A wind screen pop filter.
New Multimeter
Used VU, 3 meters per set

And that’s it! I’m done! done! done!.. unless there’s something I forgot..

But then.. A few minutes ago I hear my email ding and switch windows to see what it junk to delete.. and this ebay notification says “Congratulations, you won this item” – I think “what??.. I ‘m didn’t bid on anything else.. then, upon seeing what it is.. I remember thinking, ‘sure, I’ll bid $5 on that’ – Well, I won it.. why did I bid? Now what am I going to do with it?

Ok, I’ll pay for it now, but someone tell me why I bought it?
I guess it was because it says “Broadcast” on it..

Ingraham BROADCAST 8 DAY Alarm Clock

Well at least the beat-up thing still works – only gains 6 minutes a day..
It must have been 4:20 when I bid on it.

Audio Processing for Broadcast – example videos

Don’t know if he ever said his name, but I liked part 2 better. This guy demonstrates a couple alternative processing methods for different situations, and makes some good points concerning on-air broadcast…

I’ve never done a blog. Hope I do it right.

I got a kick out of this video on you-tube. It’s a little drawn out, but couldn’t help but watch it all the way through.. I actually watched it again a couple hours later. I would have liked to have given him a hand:
