Idea.
Wish to mount the Part 15 transmitter in a weather proof box in a small room underneath a porch. This will keep the transmitter available for easy approach and adjustment from indoors.

Wish to mount the ten-foot pipe antenna on a tripod tower located outdoors about 30-feet from the porch. Obviously the contact between transmitter and pipe antenna could not be done with ordinary lead-in or coax because the Rules specifically disallow such length.
However it seems to me that a 1:1 fiber optic method would allow the transmitter output to reach the antenna without violating the rules.

The SStran at 1680 covers the front 100′ outdoors so that a portable radio gets good signal during frequent yard work. But the back yard’s 100′ is out of range because of being uphill, and a verticle antenna at the ground does not go uphill. Perhaps an angled antenna would work, but for now I’m trying something else.
In the rear I’ll be running a copper wire underground for the full 100′ like a single ground radiator and find out whether that pushes the signal up the hill.

The other day I wanted to digitize a vinyl record for use on our little radio station, but circumstances were against me.
The other day I wanted to digitize a vinyl record for use on our little radio station, but circumstances were against me.
As it happens, we have three computer work stations, two of which are based on the legendary Amiga operating system, and the newest one is a Windows PC. The Amigas provided a video work station and an audio workstation, since we were in the business for many years. The Windows PC was added to provide online streaming.
Now 20-years old, the Amiga audio setup decided to die. The vinyl turntable was roadblocked two rooms away from the Windows machine, but I have four Scosche FM transmitters sitting around doing nothing, so I tapped one onto the turntable preamp and went to work digitizing all day at 88.5 FM.
Part 15 saved the day.
