So I was out in the back yard sitting there with the radio as I always am and it was a little louder than usual and from the other yard opposite mine from the house on the street around the block someone said excuse me and I right away said sorry I'll turn it down..........no can you turn it up!! What?.....so I walked over and through the fence we introduced ourselves and I said you can get this at your place, I am on 89.9 do you have a radio?.....I saw a sign up on the mail boxes, is that you? Yes that's me, I think we have a radio, yes we have a stereo but it hasn't been used in a long time......Well it's time to use it now I said.
I love the 60s, I hate what you hear now.....well enjoy, besides the music there's the old radio shows at night.....if you want to listen outside and you don't have a radio I give out radios to anyone that wants to listen....That's OK, I think there's something that hasn't been used in years, I'll see if it works. But there's an older stereo inside. Then the usual questions.......how far do you go........around this area......are you broadcasting all the time?.........yes 24/7 but I may turn it off once in a while for this and that but it will be back on.
You sound just like a regular station, how do you do that? How do you get songs and jingles to sound like that?........It's an automated broadcast program that does it all......as you see I am out here but it runs itself......Can I get it on my phone?.....yes if it has an FM radio,
So 3 known listeners now, Maybe a couple unknown, who knows. Advertising pays off.
That had to feel good, that's pretty cool. I remember when I had first installed on the pier, I didn't promote it at all, no signs or anything but word got around and I had a few people I knew comment how cool they thought it was, but the question I repeatedly got was "Why AM? Why don't you do it on FM?", I replied it was a matter of legalities, but they still said I should switch to FM. They just didn't get it.
