Can any tell me why my transmitter is getting a err i know my power went off and shut everything down not sure if that's why
I've seen that error when the Talking House can't properly tune its wire antenna with the internal antenna tuner. You could try moving the transmitter (and antenna), but it's possible that the power outage (and potential power surge) damaged something internally.
How difficult would it be to convert it to manual tuning? Just move it to a frequency and leave it there. -No I don't know anything about it, only curious, but it seems like bypassing the auto tune feature... don't know, I'm just asking.
All you need to do to tune with out the auto tune feature is select on the back the external antenna setting.
After doing that connect to the external antenna connector (F59) center pin a short lead going into a loading coil
For a fast loading coil, what works good is a ferrite loop stick antenna (adjustable) the kind found in crystal radio.
Connect one lead from the antenna connector center pin to one terminal on the loop stick, the other end of the loop stick (connector) connect ten (or more) feet of wire.
Adjust the loop stick for maximum RF in the antenna wire.
You can do this by using a field strength meter to see the increase in field strength as you tune the loopstick a CB meter (field strength) works well for this.
Lay the pick up for the meter on the antenna wire as the output isn’t going to be very strong to move the meter unless you have a sensitive meter.
If you don’t have a loop stick antenna you can wind a simple loading coil and use that. You can also experiment adding about 100 uh or greater in series with the antenna wire antenna until you cancel out the capacitive reactance in the antenna wire to achieve maximum RF output
I have also found that if the talking house transmitter will not calibrate and give an error, if you open the case, you will find a trimmer cap near the antenna, the standard antenna connection.
Using a field strength meter on the antenna wire to watch the RF output, let the transmitter try to calibrate, when it matches the best it can adjust the trimmer for max output on the wire antenna and go into auto calibration again, it should lock up then after the adjustment.
