I just ordered a Retekess TR508 FM transmitter From Ebay. I wrote the company in advance and they assured me that the transmitter is part 15 compliant on the low power 100 Milliwatt setting. And it comes with a part 15 certification number labelled on the transmitter.
@pete2169 That is not Part 15 compliant. Any device CERTIFIED for Part15 can't have a way to change the output power. And it's very doubtful 100 milliwats is even legal under Part 15 for the FM broadcast band.
The Retekess TR508 claims to be Part 15 compliant. It has a label affixed to the transmitter with a part 15 certification number. The number is listed in the Fcc database as a part 15 approved device. It May be a little more powerful that 250 microvolts @ 3 meters. But it has been approved. If there was fraud involved by the manufacturer the penalty is on them. With the part 15 label on the transmitter I'm legally protected. If the Fcc aver comes by, (which I doubt they ever will) the most they will do is just tell me to shut it off. Besides an FM transmitter that only puts out 250 microvolts at 3 meters has such a small coverage area it isn't worth doing.
Besides, a 100 Milliwatt FM transmitter with a Reduced sized antenna and with a special FCC approved unique connector. Qualifies under part 15 Subpart, I believe it's Subpart 205 or 195 or something like that, I can't remember the number but I looked it up on the Fcc website. The transmitter only has a few hundred feet more coverage area than a transmitter exactly measured at 250 microvolts at 3 meters. And according to all my research it's part 15 approved. So I'm no going to worry about it, there's no need to be afraid of the Fcc. If they ever show up and make me shut it down I will comply. No big deal.
The Retekess TR508 FM transmitter has a special stock Antenna with a unique special antenna connector. (Reverse treads I believe). So a coax cable or any other antenna can't attach to the transmitter. That's what makes it approved under part 15, Subpart C 195, I believe.
So the Retekess TR598 is approved and certified by the FCC. It may have a little better performance and a slightly bigger coverage area than a transmitter exactly measured at exactly 250 microvolts at 3 meters. But it's approved for part 15 use. If the FCC ever stops by and does not like it I'll shut it down. No big deal. besides I'm in a rural area. I don't think anybody even knows my transmission exists. Kind of like a tree falling in the woods doesn't make it sound that there is anyone to hear it.
of course now that the FCC is controlled by a Democrat majority of officers. They're probably not going to be as nice as they used to be. They used to have an equal amount of Democrats and Republicans in control. 2 and 2. But now that's changed. It's 3 democrat officials to 1 Republican. The Democrats hate freedom of speech. So that probably means they're going to come down harder on part 15 broadcasters.
It's Ok to discuss the pros and cons of the certification but please remember to keep respect for each other. Democrats and Republicans and free speech is a different subject and has nothing to do with the certification.
Rightly or wrongly the transmitter in discussion here has a part 15 certification and such label affixed and can be looked up and verified in the FCC data base and the lab's stamp of approval is published.
Showing a part 15 certified transmitter to an agent shows that you got this assuming it's a legal product and you were trying to be legal. It does have the FCC's stamp of approval for unlicensed use and you can't fault someone for buying and using it on that basis.

@pete2169 I don't know why you want to leave. Want to rethink this? As for your discussion about the Retekess transmitter I supported your getting it and backed you on the fact it has a certification and you have every right to assume it's legal with a valid number on the label.
The other forum member was just discussing it with you and I stepped in and just made sure respect prevailed.
You are a valuable member and as moderator I see no reason for you to leave.

I'm sure I've upset some people by transmitting on 1710 ... That's where I do experimental work...And 1560 . 99 percent of the time I'm not on either frequency. 13560 sw is legal in the USA. I don't take it personally any criticism. Right now I'm 260 miles south at our other house....On 1620 ,a bit less range .
