Maybe that desolate ground would be perfect for a mid-continent shortwave facility... Blue Bucket Worldround Radio from ten frequencies beaming everywhere.

I'm awake.

Not sleepy.

Why would you ask?

Right you are Carl about the shipping and tracking being a theatrical event, it is very much so!

I've felt the excitent of watching a package heading straight for my home, then the dread when it shoots right past to some distant city, why are they doing that, did they make a mistake, I could have had it today, am I going to get it at all?

Then.. the redemption, the package is finally in my city at the local distributor, handed off to last mile carriers like USPS. It's out for delivery with not further information, so will it come tonight or tomorrow morning, that's the question.

Hearing a thump on the door mat, maybe a knock, maybe a telephone call, it's here, and the audience claps.

In a way it was the same before tracking, waiting for your Knight-Kit phono oscillator so you could begin broadcasting, you'd wait for the mail every day for 2-3 weeks by parcel post, a disappointment every day, until the package arrived and it was the thrill of victory.

Now we can watch the miniseries as it's happening. Think of what's about to happen Carl, drone delivery, where the plane's camera can see zooming down on your house as it delivers the parcel.

Automatic cars will self drive to your house and be tracked in near real time, imagine the frenzy then!

It'll get serious when citizens become involved in front-porch collisions with delivery drones or run over while sweeping the driveway by driverless delivery vans.

Some bored overnight worker at FedEx will re-route packages so that everyone gets someone else's package.

No matter how long it takes, if what RadioDugger finally gets is, in fact, an AMT3000 radio transmitter, he should take a deep breath of orderliness.

I called him. A female on an answering machine. No mention of SSTRAN. I am going to make two more inquiries. If I have to go to dreaded FaceBook, I will. That will be my last try...

It is on my list to order a SSTRAN AMT5000, but I don't want to wait forever to get it.  I am already not much on patience with building kits.  I can do it, but I am a plug and play preferred person these days.

I had originally decided on the 5000, but figured I'd go with what I know...the 3000. And as of right now, not one word from SSTRAN! The guy is in his 70s...I hope he didn't die! I noticed on eBay there is a SpitFire AM Transmitter from the UK for a little less than $100 and it's pre-built! I might go that route.

I watched on YouTube where the SpitFire AM Transmitter only could go to your yard.  In fact the author said it won't go 1-5 miles.  So in other words this transmitter is just a Flycaster and useless for any serious Radio Station.  The audio quality is Better than the Talking House however that is for sure.

I too have looked at the SSTRAN and Spitfire, and sure, the Spitfire would be on the more budget side, but if they both have the same 100 milliwatt input, the range shouldn't be much different.

The Spitfire looks like it's using moulded inductors for the antenna matching coils, where SSTRAN has a large toroid with a tapped inductor that is probably intended for lower losses and more adjustment range.

How much of a difference there is between the two systems?

I bet you'd be hard pressed to try and beat a 600 Ft range of the Talking House with the supplied wire which is not saying mush for the SpitFire.

I feel for the people having problems with Sstran as I just hate waiting for things. And, especially when I pay more for "expidited" shipping and a seller takes their sweet time to ship an item!

Amazon prime is great....Amazon Canada has their own courier now and if I order something in the evening I can get it the next day!

Sstran will loose customers I'm sure....if I ordered an Sstran I'd expect it shipped in at least 2or3 days tops....Chez Radio(procaster), Decade, Rangemaster, BV/Waio, etc. are all small operations and they can ship right away with all orders. And it worries me when you can't communicate with the seller.

I suspect there may be health issues going on. He always responds in a timely fashion and now I get no responses from him via email either.
