It was a bit of trouble getting SSTRAN to ship the bugger, but they finally did almost 60 days late. Anyway, I shall assemble my first transmitter. I hope to be on the air within 60 days.

Good luck...wonder what's wrong with the shipping though? Heard this also by someone on Facebook too.

Over the years I've ordered two AMT3000s (both still in service) and one AMT5000 (also still running) from SSTran(dot)com and never had a single problem.

Through conversations in e-mails I've slightly gotten to know the owner, operator, inventor, engineer responsible for the excellent transmitters, Mr. Phil Bolyn, and come to realize that he is an absolute professional and goes to extra lengths to satisfy customers.

He has had detractors ranting incessantly over at hobbybroadcaster(dot)com about petty, diddling, unproven complaints that have done harm only to the HB website and earned a black eye for the supposed "friendly" part 15 site which exists behind a nearly impenetrable moat. Enough.

The SSTran line of transmitters are the best AM transmitter kits in the world and some believe that the AMT5000 is capable of out-performing any pre-built certified transmitter.

Come to think of it I need to order a second AMT5000 for an outdoor antenna project.

I do hope Mr. Centinel reports about his good experience with the AMT3000.

As Donald Trump says, "We've got to find out what's going on".

I have built three. I owned one ten years ago. It replaced a dead TH5. I was astounded at how good it sounded! Ha! Poet much? OK. Yeah. I had a GE Super Radio. My friend asked if it was FM. When ya have to ask...LOL!

I just ran with the dipole (wire). I just ordered one again. My TH5 just died again. It covered downtown Augusta with the wire antenna hanging out my 2nd floor window. I assume the SSTRAN will perform similarly. I'll let ya know!

That was probably me. Somebody suggested patience with waiting, but I thought a month was plenty of time. I don't doubt the product will be ok.

The last two times I ordered things that required shipping across multiple states I got to enjoy the "Tracking Tool" which has become a modern feature.

Both times the projected delivery date was wrong and both orders arrived several days after that time.

One of the packages got marked "Delivered" two days before it was actually delivered.

It's like a twisted game of Pokemon Go being played by the shippers, i.e., USPS, Fedex and UPS.

Hello fellow Saint Loser.... uh, I mean St. Louisian.

Wow a lot of you guys get impressive ranges on the part 15 AM. I barely got across the street with my talking house, I made a 24 foot longwire for it and it only gets out 200 feet. Maybe need to just get the antenna outdoor or something.

EDIT: Oh NVM it's the forum being weird and marks every comment as a reply to the last.

There's not much point in using a longer antenna with the Talking House if you are using the built-in tuner.  It's not Part 15 compliant, and the tuner was designed to tune the supplied wire antenna (under 10 feet).  You'll likely get more range with the supplied antenna, whether indoors or out.  However, an outdoor antenna is always preferable - that's usually what gives the ranges up to 1 mile.

I ordered this two weeks ago. I have heard nothing. This disturbs me. I may have to call Phil and see wassup. I still have to order a soldering kit off the 'Bayster, so it's not critical...but sheesh! I need this thing!

Whatever the reason for the percieved delay you will receive one of the great part 15 transmitters ever made at the best price, eclipsed only by the AMT5000.

I think we've become impatient since many online and mail order companies have turned the immediacy of delivery into a theatrical event with "Package Tracking" so we can see the exact minute when delivery will occur.

Even with that, in my last two online purchases actual delivery was days after the "Delivered" notification. There was an illusion of speed, but it took awhile (from NewEgg and eBay).

In other cases I got a "Back Ordered" notice for some items and delivery took a month or so.

Almost a year ago when i ordered my second AMT3000 delivery time was reasonable, my only complaint is the route the delivery trucks take to finally reach my home.

It's not my feul they are burning up so much as it is the insane route they take to get back into Kentucky. So let's say they start their trip from Albany NY, with some stops in between before entering Ky, by then the driver should be on I-75, South bound and down.

Usually they run as far south as London Ky then make an almost straight shot West to Bowling Green Ky before turning around and heading back South on I-75 from London,Ky only to throw in Knoxville TN in the mix and turn around come back into Ky via I-75, go almost to London,Ky before take the Parkway to Hazard,Ky then finally 8 miles North to my home.

Makes no sense to me. In my county we have a UPS and Fedex facilities right along side Sykes and a few excavating companies, cement and well the rest is dead undeveloped industrial park that never saw much promise. I mean the property is big enough to house two Showrtave stations complete with Curtain Arrays and perhaps even an AM station.

Really desolite looking.
