The Crow is Official...
Officially Streaming that is!
After several times of playing with free
streaming sites I have finally purchased a real stream.
in addition a while back I started broadcasting 24/7
It can be heard on any media player, which is a huge thing for me since when I first started it, it could only play on winamp or itunes. (what a frustrating fix that was)

anywho it can be accessed by going to kqro.tk and clicking listen live or by copy and pasting 64.20.42.58:8016 into windows media player or simply clicking http://64.20.42.58:8016/listen.pls
(which will open winamp)

Only downfall of the stream is,
the songs don't show up, but oh well LOL!

Now I return you to your regularly scheduled programming

Sounding real good Crow! -- By the way, I think you need a couple more clocks in your studio!
If I may ask, how much did you pay for your 'real stream', and what features does it provide?

Ah yea, I like the clocks. There's even a wind up one you can't see!

as for my stream, it only costs me $7.50 a month.
Up to 128 kbps unlimted bandwidth, and website hosting if I want it.
It has the admin panel, a great tool by the way.
No buffering at all, for me or them. And Excellent Customer Service.

They affiliate with SWcast so the JPL streaming royalties rates are usable, a win win win for me ๐Ÿ™‚

This will be very interesting, The Crow, that is I mean learning about and following your results with the new streaming adventure.

I was just coming on the site here to promote something I did, but your announcement is very important, so I am withholding mine, until much some other time.

Streams to all kinds of players? That alone is major.

Now I'm going to stand back and examine everything that's going on so the fun can happen.

Super Power to you, The Crow!

Felicitaciones amigo! Good goin' !!

"as for my stream, it only costs me $7.50 a month."

That's a chunk less than I pay, plus they charge another large chunk every quarter for my website.

So, are you going to tell us who you've chosen to go with?

I use Pillar-Tunez Hosting.
http://pillar-tunez.net/

That price does not include royalties however.

Not bad for 7.50 a month. Slot count is kinda low for the bit rate but the price compensates for that.

I was able to strike an excellent deal for my streams. I have a total of 500 slots spanning across 3 different stream servers at 3 different bit rates, all for 67 bucks a month.

128Kps @ 100
48Kps @ 100
24Kps AAC+ @ 300 (iTunes listed)

One of the expansion plans for this year is to increase both 100 slot servers to 200 slots each...for a total combined of 700. Maybe later in the year, possibly by next holiday season I will increase the 300 slotter up to 500, for a total combined of 900 slots.

Negotiations.....they do take some time. ๐Ÿ˜€

Great your streaming now Crow! Welcome to the jungle! ๐Ÿ˜‰

My station is not on the air right now.

I got into your website and potted up
the board to the studio sound system, which
is in stereo and has two pretty good speakers.

It sounds wonderful and I like all of your
promos!

Good For You!

Thanks for the feedback guys!
96 kbps 44 khz sampling. ๐Ÿ™‚
I also can do mp3pro
but I don't know a whole lot about that
or if it needs a special player. So I haven't used it yet.
I could also go up to 128 kbps,
but my max rate hovers around 205-180 kbps
so I keep it at 96 kbps to ensure I have a lot of head room.

That's Cool your expanding RFBurns
maybe someday I'll get that many ๐Ÿ˜‰

as for my promos, all but 2 of them we're made by me. LOL!
Gad you like em Bruce!

This internet, it's an interesting beast.

Hi The Crow

After waiting until my station signed off at about 10 PM CST, I tuned in your new stream and am listening to THE IDOL RADIO SHOW right now. It's a show I've never heard before, contains entertaining conversation, and I'll stay tuned through the 11 PM break.

Thank you for inviting me.

There was a commercial before FSRN news, and if I was anywhere near McKinney, I would come bursting into The Ballard Street Cafe for a two-hour feast.

Let's see, if I started driving now, maybe I could be there for breakfast.

Oooo, the commercial is on again!

Snack time!

When I heard that song on Crow's
station, I knew it was a big playlist.

I also listened to Carl's station and
Ken's station last night.

I'm going to try to listen to all of
you guys who are streaming.

Best Wishes,
Bruce, MICRO1690/1700

I also can do mp3pro
but I don't know a whole lot about that
or if it needs a special player.

Mp3pro is actually a good encoding method but not very compatible when it comes to the meta data (song titles, duration etc). If your encoding at 64 Kps or higher, you really do not need it or AAC+ encoding. Standard mp3 encoding is good at 96 Kps and will not chew up a lot of CPU processing on your encoding computer.

I have seen some streaming stations throw up a AAC+ stream at 128 Kps and there is no real improvement in sound quality because AAC+ was really intended for 56 Kps and lower to make those bitrates compare to the higher bitrates (128 and up). I think they do it to "look" impressive on the station directory listings.

For example, my 24 Kps 44.1Khz stream uses AAC+ and it sounds better than my 128 Kps 44.1 Khz standard mp3 stream. All of my streams are in stereo and I have more listeners tune in to the 24 Kps AAC+ stream than the other two due to the fact that it is iTunes listed and more mobile devices are internet capable. Set up in this manner I have complete coverage for broadband, dialup and iMobile.

I also use the SAM broadcaster automation program (3). My AM and FM stations have their own SAM so they can break away from the internet side and run local programs and breaks, also to provide a means to separate the terrestrial from the internet when certain live shows air due to content that cannot go out on terrestrial radio.

Again welcome to the wonderful world of streaming! A whole new world has opened up for you now! ๐Ÿ™‚
