Question 1:
Question 1:
I cant get into the Ramsey Board, I ask for a new passoword and the site tells me there sending me the infor to get it to my email address- I never get any message from Ramsey, so I sent a note to them in the email address they provide in the "contact us" area.
There havent been new posts there in the AM FM transmitter section for along time, is anyone else havings problems getting into the user group?
Question 2:
I found plans for a nice RF low pass filter ( many around) for 88-108 ok, but the plans call for number 18 asw which is a metric guage. Its just a bit smaller I think than AWG 18- would this difference cause a problem in winding the coils for proper operation if I used AWG 18 instead? I do have a cross reference chart I found on the web that spells out the differences in each guage.
Unrelated comment:
I have seen several discussions about power supplies and hum. Im running a TH 4.6 for my "daytime" operation. I use two 12 volt lead sealed batterys, about 7.5 Amps each. I charge then in parallel but run them in series to a adjustible voltage regulator for what ever the voltage is that is required, 16-18?
Anyway I built a system so for opperation of the transmitter, with the push of a button the system will put the batterys in series, 24V, I run this through a adjustible voltage regulator with its own volt meter, then to the transmitter. When you push the switch again it ties in a 1.5 amp charger and connects the two 12 volt batterys in paralle ,( and disconnects the transmitter from power) . There is a couple of relays in the box and a switch. I use type of charger when the batteries are charged it goes into a sleep mode untill the battery voltage drops off. I can run the system for about 24 hours if I need to befor charging.
I usually just recharge when the transmitter is not being used. This took care of the hum problem with the talking house. ( along with an outside external anttnna) I also run ground loop isolators in the audio leads and a ground wires right to the same point on a cold water pipe from each accessory I have attached to the transmitter ( EQ, SIMA SVS4 Switcher, and audio sources.

I am able to log on and browse the Ramsey board. Note that since there have been no posts in the AM FM section for some time you need to click on the button at the bottom to show the older threads.

No, as long as the inside diameter and the length of the coil and number of turns is the same as specified for the other wire.
Nice description of your battery operation. I do have a suggestion though. It is not generally practiced to charge batteries in parallel since the current passing through each battery may differ and thus the charge may differ. If voltage is used to terminate the charge one of them might overcharge. If possible charge them in series. If not possible, try to charge them one at a time. I don't mean to worry you about this and if what you do works then fine.

Thanks Neil,
The charging system works good as is for me. I do apriciate your advice on not putting them in Parallel to charge though and will consider some other options.
