Thank you for your service to our country.
Thanks, John -- also thanks for your service (in the US Navy, as I recall).
Oh those trips on leave to San Francisco from Fort Ord.
While we're here, I have a true story about an "after-service" day in the life of an FM station owner-manager we shall call "Ted."
Ted was in his office when his secretary rang and said a man from the IRS was waiting to see him.
Ted changed into his army uniform kept hanging neatly on a coat rack, backed out of his office saying, "Thanks a lot, Ted, for airing our recruitment spots."
Ted left the building right past the IRS man.
THANK YOU!!!!
Bruce.
He flew "flying boats" - Marlin P5Ms -
across the Pacific from California to
Hawaii - - with no computers. Back and
forth - over and over. I think it took about
24 hours to make the trip. He didn't do combat -
but some of his stories are unbelievable.
He is still alive - and at age 86 - is doing pretty well.
So - - thank you!
I am very proud of every one of our vets,
(alive or no longer with us) and everyone
in active service.
In the center of our town is a war memorial. It has the
names of the people here who gave their lives for us.
All you have to do is read the names, ranks, and years
these people were alive and on this earth.
It makes you stop and think.
Thank you again.
Brooce
Veterans Day is over.
We'll have to ask the vets to leave please.
