Some AM transmitters will get less range if you make the wire or antenna longer unless the antenna tuner is get a longer range of tuning. I've learned somethimes longer is not always better with these part 15 AM transmitters. Copper works better for the antenna. Some however you could put a 100 Ft piece of wire on it and get a few miles. I've heard about what you can do with a Science Fair transmitter and a few others. One gue at the school for the blind in Michigan used bed springs as part of his antenna and got out very far. Not sure how it was constructed. AM is funny. Just like the report about one guy who had his wire a few feet from the breaker box and plugged in near it and somehow it acted like carrier currect and seemed to go out all over the town. But Station8 told me when he tried it that it really didn't happen that way for him. He did say wrapping the wire around a lamp cord followed the lines to some degree but was week. Probably would not work for me because we get Hydro noise when we get close to the power lines here. If it was clean however I'd have tried it with my AM TX.
