The maiden program schedule from The United Milliwatt Network (UMN) is now available for download.

The name "United Milliwatt Network" is on loan from Brooce WLP, until we think up an original name for the new network, or until we forget about it and stop messing around.

This Program Feed is available to all Part 15 stations.

Contents:

- Tim Headlines from Bovey;

- Atrain Rant;

- Buster Boatrocker Comment on Something In the News;

- Atrain Interview with John from Church of Bacon.

Barry & Stephanie did not do a "Little Things Show" this time because they are embarassed by elected officials in their home state of Kentucky.

We have been embarassed by those elected officials for years. Sorry we missed our opportunity to be included in this show of shows, we have tried to make it up to you all by uploading a show early this morning.

Enjoy!

The United Milliwatt Network (UMN) issues "Splice This: a Supplemental Edition" featuring "The Little Things Show" from Blue Bucket Radio, with extinquished broadcaster Carl Blare as Network Host.

Crank up your transmitters to 110 milliWatts for this one.

Stand by for a warning from the Rule Keeper.

Per Mr Blare in Reply #3 above:

... Crank up your transmitters to 110 milliWatts for this one.  Stand by for a warning from the Rule Keeper.

The Rule Keeper under US Codes is the FCC.

Under FCC §15.209 it is possible to "crank up" a transmitter to MUCH more than 100 milliwatts of d-c input power using any antenna system, as long as the field intensity 30 meters in any direction from that transmit antenna system actually _meets_ FCC §15.209.

Probably Mr Blare does not want to appear publicly as believing that FCC Part 15 Rules are unimportant.

But that might be a logical conclusion based on some of his posts here.

Short of being put on the defensive over flippant remarks, let's ask the reverse question...

Why would a grown educated adult consider the microcosmic part 15 FCC rules so gravely serious that they were above ridicule or jest?

This is not religion.

Probably they wouldn't, by readers having the technical background to distinguish "ridicule or jest" from reality.

But that difference may not be recognized by readers without such backgrounds, and could lead them into confilct with the FCC with respect to some "Part 15" systems that you appear to support.

What little regard you have for the intelligence and intuition of the membership here at part 15.

To Rich:  I've learned that it is far better to have a really good antenna and maybe lower power than high power and a poor antenna.  It can even make the audio sound more prestine with a really high gain well tuned antenna.  Figure out how to make a 20 db AM antenna at 100 mW and you're really rocking.  As Station8 has demonstrated with these 100mW AM transmitters a BIGGER antenna is not always BETTER.  He has tested some 6 foot antennas made of the right material and a thicker Diameter that will beat the tar out of a 10 foot antenna sold by many part 15 transmitter companies.  And too it also depends on the length of wire inside the transmitter itself from the PC board to the connector.  You want to try and squeeze every bit of that juice as possible and your range will improve.  If you actually had hands on experience with these transmitters you'd know.  Here is another thought: A member of this site also has said a 8 Ft piece of copper wire connected to his Talking House transmitter beat the pants out of the longer wire that came with the transmitter and tuned in faster with the auto tuner.  More proof that longer is not always better.  The trick is to figure out how you can achieve the most Gain with an antenna system.

The gain of a linear, monopole antenna system depends on its electrical length, and the distribution of r-f current along its conductors (including the path to r-f ground).

Unlicensed systems strictly meeting FCC §15.219 have the reality that the 3-m length permitted for that antenna system has very low radiation resistance -- about 0.12 ohms at 1650 kHz.  That radiation resistance is very small compared to the typical 15 ohm resistance of a loading coil and 50 ohm (or more) resistance of an r-f ground connection.  Those system losses, and the 100 mW d-c power limit of §15.219 determine the EM fields radiated by that system.

Such conclusions may be the result of changes other than the length of the antenna.  For example the system with the 10-ft antenna may not have been tuned to resonance, where the 6-ft antenna system was resonant.  Also changes in the configuration of the path to r-f ground, and different configurations of power and audio cables can have a major bearing on system performance.

Rule thumping again are we? Do you possess at least a little bit of humor in that over analytical head of yours?
You must be a hoot at social gatherings. Example: Ned tries to make an out going call on his smart phone but is unable to because the tower is too far away.

Ned makes a comment that the dam thing needs more power! Merely stating what he feels would be the solution to his lack of bars on his smart phone. He said this out of frustration and really knows there are limitations to everything in life.
Rich chimes in and has even pulled up an NEC chart of techno babble he feels needs to be said to Ned, Ned just about spills his drink on the patio and proceeds to punch Rich in the nose.

As Rich holds his nose, Neds wife comes to his side asking her husband to calm down.
Ned asks his wife Susie why is he here? Susie say's I don't know, i thought you invited him"

Ned asks his friend Tom to kindly escort Rich to his car. Rich say's But i didn't cite the rules to Ned yet and he just has to see this nifty chart i made with a Texas Instruments Calculator. Tom, works out you see and he has a way of getting a message across without say too much. In fact, it's all in his posture.

Tom is a nice guy and swell to have on your side when someone rubs you the wrong way by spouting off rules that most people in the know, already know. You know?

Rock95seven we accept your story outline to be produced as a feature motion picture.

But we can't decide if it's a comedy or a Stephen King horror story.
