Here's one.. I'm looking for Studio Layout Ideas - anyone care to share pics of the Part15 operations from a control desk point of view?
Nothing much to see here at Worldround Radio. Ours is mainly a repeater station running playlists of programs produced by other people located somewhere else.
It's a nice computer monitor, keyboard, big black computer, and only three visible radio objects: a low profile microphone in-a-pipe clamped to the left side of the desk, a 4-channel Radio Shack mixer, and a 9.5 foot high bamboo tripod tower which holds an FM transmitting antenna, VHF wireless receiving antenna, and clamped to one leg of the tower is a microwave cordless phone.
Well, there's an old Radio Shack Duophone speakerphone, modified to provide caller audio feed to the mixer.
Off to one side the hand-held wireless mic can be grabbed for wandering talk.
JohnyC: LOVE that - and the historical photos were awesome...
Carl: Got any photos?
Home made hybrid?
"Well, there's an old Radio Shack Duophone speakerphone, modified to provide caller audio feed to the mixer."
The R.S. Duophone is long gone, but it makes a great phone hybrid that seems as good as anything heard on "normal" radio.
For a sample listen to the interview on Low Power Hour No. 78 (and all earlier phone interview episodes).
I great looking at other people's studio's, but there is one small down side. It makes you buy more gear when you see what others have and you dont.
JohnyC : Yeah.. that is true.. I'm really trying to get an idea for my studio layout.. I have the "last" (bahahahaha) of my gear showing up over the next week, and wanted to have a nicer home than the IKEA board and legs + folding table I am using now.. Manteca Local Radio had the awesome QRK/Gates turntables in their own spot.. now days, I plan to use plain old mobile jock turntables..
I have some various pics of Big D Country at
Building is an 8x26 old construction trailer, with studios at one end, office area in the center, and music library on the other end.
See my setup at....
