i tested the sstran yesterday on 1550.
it had a 4m horizontal ground (shortest ground possible in my situation) from tx out on apartment porch to hot water pipe indoors. antenna was 102" steel whip on a tripod.
testing was done in the direction of ground radial.
according to my nems clarke 120E the sstran amt5k under modulation (no external processing) puts out 8mV @ 350ft away on 1550 in direction of the ground radial.
this ground / radiator / audio arrangement will be my standard test jig for comparison.
keep in mind it will be a long time for this to be completed as it will be done as i feel up to hooking up tx and have time as i do this all while the xyl is sleeping out of respect to her as she does not like the wires and mess involved.
AFAIK a sticky is either a small paper note with an adhesive stripe on the back-top, or a computer screen version of it ... no idea what it means in this case. Please explain ...
see the 3 topics at top of board with red pins through envelope image. they are permanently stuck there and don't drift into archives that is a sticky and i wish they would make this one the same.
Reverend Robert,
Congratulations for your first report of a field strength reading using your FIM.
If your field strength reading is correct, then your AMT-5000 with its improvised antenna system is much better than Ken Cartwright's Rangemaster mounted on a 40' tower. I would not be surprised if the AMT-5000 is shown to have more range than the Rangemaster, but 8000 uV/m at 350 feet is not at all likely, especially with your antenna system, which is necessarily lossy because of your particular test range.
Maybe you need to try to calibrate your FIM. You already intend to make a direct comparison with the Rangemaster in a nearly identical test setup as was used with the AMT-5000, and these would be very useful results
This is definitely going in the right direction.
Bruce, DRS2
