Hi Guys: Sad news announcement for all you operators with the radio system atu outdoor unit.
I talked to katie from radio system today 4-20-2015 at aprox 11:20 am est time,
The I.A.M. - ATU has been discontinued.
Availability parts for the atu has been discontinued ( Parts are No longer Made ).
station 8 Jeff
Jeff, you say that Katie told you 2-days ago that the ATU and its parts are discontinued, but Bill DePlete at Snobby Casters claims he announced the same thing a year ago, before Radio Systems even knew the ATU would be discontinued.
Speaking personally, I do not wish to embarrass the website or its members with what seem like snarky remarks about the orther part 15 site.
The place I'm coming from is one of parody and satire, based on the axiom "imitation is the greatest form of flattery." I tend, sooner or later, to satirize everything in life including myself, the Pope in his upholstery fabrics, Nyet Nyet Yahoo and his cry for nuclear war, and full grown men with tiny transmitters.
In some countries a person can get stoned for being too glib, but in America stones are expensive and no one wants to waste them.
So in closing may I say, I care about the other site and enjoy everyone over there. Remember this maxim: "We must accept interference."
What I don't get is the ATU uses the same parts that are used for the I.A.M. Radio auto-tuner. So, unless they've redesigned the auto-tuner to be all electronic rather than mechanical the parts are still being used in the transmitter.
The response from IAM is likely generic and is directly from marketing. They want to move everyone to their new product in an outdoors enclosure (at a lot more money, of course).
