I can think of plenty of things ye need to work on my friend! :p
Happiness is both a state of mind and state of presence.
The big secret? There is no big secret. It's all a matter of knowing how to do things without making it all so complex as to appear to be more than what one really is.
All present? Say I.
Looks like it's going well....not so well.
Don't mind me...only been in this junk since before BBS days.

Interesting that the buy it now keeps bouncing up and down in price...current bid sitting at 1K.
Glad someone has money! ๐

For 1-second all of this hub-bub make me wonder if my website could be sold. But I outbid myself right away and own it again.
Can you put a website in a will?
Is there a way to own a website with absolute ownership?
I know questions but rarely answers.
In conjunction with my station's web master who is a computer code and software design expert, we have completed a 100 percent backup of this site's content.
Note that this backup will not include most recent posts placed after 1AM MT, but we will add the new posts and threads created on a regular basis.
This backup also does not copy site specific material which is the property of Part15.us. The backup only makes a mirror of the contributed content, which are the forum threads and posts, blog posts, and library material. We did not copy any member lists or email contact information. Only the contributed content will be archived in case this site ends up going dark.
I hope it doesn't go dark and that whomever becomes the new owners continues the site as it is a vital source for information and an excellent place to submit new ideas and technical help.
But I will just throw out my 2 cents here based on observation and trend in the world of the web. This does not imply that the current owner, or potential new owner intends to put Part15.us into the history books, but when a bidder who is bidding on this site while bidding on 45 other domains from 40 other sellers at the same time, that is an almost guarantee that the bidder is merely doing domain investments for a turn-key purpose. Meaning that it is highly possible the new owner is not interested in maintaining the forum, but merely making investment purchases and turning around and re-selling the domain.
I do not mean to put a scare or imply anything with that assertion, but I have seen this kind of thing before and many excellent forums like this one ends up going into the abyss. As I said, I certainly hope that is not the case with Part15.us. This is the absolute best place to be and even though there was/are/is some feuds going on to a certain degree, every single member here is a valuable participant and valuable asset to our hobby and to radio in general.
I just want to take steps to preserve that valuable information so that it does not vanish into the memory hole.
Again I did not backup any site specific content that is the property of Part15.us, nor any member contact info or any other private or secure information. The only thing copied to backup is the contributed content.

Thank you RFB. I don't think I can even come up
with a comment that will do justice to what you
just did. Backing up the contributed content sounds
like a very good idea!
We have learned a lot and have done a lot here!

Admittedly knowing nothing about what it would involve to back up all the forums and blogs I am amazed that RFB does know how and has done so!
I am impressed.
It's a good "off-site security archive" for the furtherance of part 15 knowledge.
Home School College hereby bestows upon RFB an Honorary Doctor of Libraries Degree.
It would be cool if there were someone who could answer questions everyone has so that there wasn't crazy speculation ๐
1) We keep backups of the entire system offsite - we had a nasty experience some time ago that some of you will remember.
2) I needed to see what the site was "worth" from a purely financial standpoint.
3) The 40/month profit isnt really as much "profit" as you might think. Steve, Kevin, and I spend a lot of time on various aspects of the site and it continuation, the "profit" is what goes into a credit account with PCS-Electronics. The cash we get actually pays for the hosting. We use the PCS-Electronics credits for things like hardware to write reviews on, or donating micro-radios to small 3rd world countries.
4) For the last few months, we have felt like it was time to turn the site over to someone who could put more time into it, someone with fresh eyes, and a need to learn all this stuff. We have been searching for such a person, and may have found them. We are still in the process of interviewing.
5) This is from just me - This site has no value to me. (I so hope someone cuts that sentence out and starts a thread about it ๐ ) - By that, I mean there is no value that can be placed on the things I learned, the things I contributed, the people I met, the stuff I got to play with (Hamilton Radios, SSTrans, Chez, Talking Houses, Carrier Current) - I got to run a radio station ... how flippin cool was that? BUT; the time has come for me to step down.
I am very happy to offer answers to questions, statements, whatever. But I assure you of two things: the data is safe, and this site will continue as long as you are here.
You guys have done a wonderful job over the years, and you are much appreciated.
I sincerely hope you can find someone to take it over who shares the same dedication. This site is a valuable resource and needs to be continued!
Thank you very much for clearing the air. I'm sure all of us feel a bit better now.
I just about fell over when I read this, glad it turned out to be nothing!
Thanks for the heads up...a little on the late side but as the old saying goes better late than never.
Glad the forum wont go anywhere and the data will be safe. Never take any chances as I like to live by...it's safe in more than one place.
RFB
Yes, to reiterate, the data is safe and backed up 100% no need to worry about that. in fact, the copy i had running on my private servers for upgrade testing and whatnot (and without the heavy duty spam protections) had some spam posted on it, notifying the moderators. needless to say, they were a bit confused. lol.
also, I plan on remaining in my position as 'admin' as long as possible, which hopefully is a very long time ๐
So there is about to be another post here introducing you folks to Jon. Jon is the guy taking over my position with Part15.us.
