Music Licenses
Hi,
Does anyone know of a cheap (for us little pico stations) license format to play the ASCAP and such music?
IINAL, but after reading some of the posts on another radio message board, it seems that the ascap, bmi, sesac, etc just dont care about part15 stations and won't license you. Does this mean you can just play the stuff? I don't know. Most of us just do.
a small loophole is to join a co-op for streaming (live365 or something like it), and use the radiated broadcast as a supplimental to your streaming rather than the other way around (semantics..)
I was kind of actually looking at doing something like this:

i used tham for a bit. it's affordable, easy to comply with.. just dont make the mistake i did: expect any response from the person running it 🙂
eh?
I'm curious about this as well. The coffee shop next door had to buy a license to play music, how can we get away with it? Not that I mind--I just don't want to get a fine.
ASCAP: www.ascap.com/licensing/radio
BMI: www.bmi.com/licensing/broadcaster/radio
Or get some free music from GarageBand: www.garageband.com, look for the Creative Commons licensed music.
