Getting audio to transmitter?

Hi,
How do you all get your audio to your transmitter? Since the RF cable length seems to be included in the antenna overall length it seems like it would make most sence to run as little wire as possible THROUGH a building to the say roof.

Mount the transmitter at the antenna and run your power and audio to it. The transmitter needs to be mounted in a weatherproof box since it'll be outside.

Right... I got that.... something like a NEMA box... but where do you get (or what kind of cable do you use) to run like a 300 foot audio cable?

You can get two-pair shielded cable at Home Depot. They sell it as alarm cable.

Cool.. I'll check it out!
Is it best to but the transmitter on a roof...
or ground it into the ground?

i actually use the 2 pair from rat shack (telephone cable) - but i run the modulated sound as current to the TX stage.

What else would you run the sound as?

well.. most transmitters have the modulator and the transmitter in the same box.. mines in 2 different boxes. This way I can control modulation from the studio.. (bass heavy stuff tends to bleed more imo)

at least this is how it was explained to me ๐Ÿ™‚
