The death of Prince has generated seemingly much more publicity than the death of any musical figure in memory. From all the reading I've done on the subject it seems his fame is attached to his historically large record sales.
It is reasonable to assume that record sales equate with popularity, and in the final analysis it's the music that is popular, not so much the act of buying records.
It took me all that to come to the realization that I would not recognize a single Prince song, and as a broadcaster that might be a disqualifier, so my Prince education starts now.
Share with me if you will your thoughts, feelings and stories about Prince.
What are the top ten things to know about him and his music?
He released his first album at 19 years old.
He wrote (and supposedly hated) "Manic Monday"
I was never a big Prince fan. I can take or leave most of his music, but I really did enjoy the scene in the first Batman (Michael Keaton) movie where The Joker (played by Jack Nicholson) dances around a museum to Partyman.
