On the main page is a new antenna analyzer that tunes down to 530 KHZ. Can be useful for those trying to find that sweet spot on the homebrew monopoles. Also great for keeping check on your antenna.
Got to have that meter!
That is one very slick device that adds another great tool to the part 15 bench.
The weather station just below is also the stuff of dreams.
I have the regulat 259 that covers 1.8 to above. I dinked around with some caps in the RF circuits and got it down to about 1.2 so I could play in the upper end of the AM band.
Does anybody know how much power is required to pass through this analyzer to produce a valid measurement? I looked for that on the MFJ website, but didn't find it.
I suspect it is more than an FCC-compliant Part 15 AM transmitter normally produces.
20 milliwatts into a 50 ohm load.
Only some part 15 transmitters produce a 50-ohm output.
Engineering by SSTran has, and I think I have this right, an impedance closer to the range that is practical for a 3-meter antenna. I'm thinking 30-ohms, but I believe it's ultimately determined by the loading coil/ground configuration.
The analyzer will work with other loads. That's just the spec'ed output at 50 ohms.
