There were so many cool things in those 2 shows that
my mind is a big jumble. My brain is interfering with
itself.

Lol.. I listened to them both too - a couple of times, because first I hadn't listened closely and it kind of was just playing in the background and missed a bunch of stuff.. but then I listened again and the second time was a lot more fun.

Low power broadcasting with ghost. It was sorta like the Low Power Hour meets Coast To Coast AM.

At some point during the second show, I think I kind of began to see Carl's angle on the (a)(b)interference conundrum previously discussed here.

Couldn't sleep so I thought I would check and chime in.

Well I think the (a)(b) thing is only a conundrum if (a) and (b) are clustered together as just one common rule. At that point yes they would highly conflict.

But they are in fact two separate things entirely.

Our friend (a) cannot cause interference. So what exactly is (a) referring to? Is it referring to a light bulb? Is it referring to a loud speaker? Or is it referring to a device that will generate an RF emission which is "INTENDED" to be radiated?

Our friend (b) must accept interference. So what exactly is (b) referring to? Is it referring to a light bulb? Is it referring to a loud speaker? Or is it referring to a device that generates and uses RF energy in order to function...like that of a radio receiver or a computer?

I think that if one were to separate the two, then the conundrum confusion will no longer be confusing or be a conundrum.

That old saying..putting all your eggs in one basket. I think that highly applies here. The only confusion and conundrum in (a) and (b) is what is being applied to them, not what is defined by them.

We all know there are plenty of other FCC rules which have sub parts. Some are categorized by number, others by letter.

So knowing that..how come all those other rules with an (a) and (b) and even more..do not cause this mysterious conundrum?

Perhaps we should splice all the rules up that have sub parts, be them designated by number or letter, and see if we can dig up a conundrum.

It all reminds me of a line from a movie spoken by Peter Fonda...."If God did not exist it would be necessary to invent him". Easy Rider.

Replace "God" with "conundrums" and "him" with "them".

Good episodes though!

Um, ok, now I don't understand the (a)(b)conundrum anymore! just kidding, but what I meant is when I heard him address the subject in his show I better understood from where he was coming from

Ah yes, the fireside chat in Easy Rider, my favorite part of the movie.

I just installed a lovely LED bulb on the porch, and the package contains the part 15 conditions, (a) and (b).

My LED bulb "may not cause harmful interference."

BUT, my LED bulb "must accept any interference."

The questions shifts a little here, since the bulb is not a radio receiver: how could anything interfere with the bulb with the exception of a golf club?

Well, if a ghost upstairs walk over the area of the led light, it might cause interference and make it flicker.. it could happen, just ask the Dood.

The light will have to accept interference from things like fog, heavy rain or snow, dust, or someone being cute and throwing a towel over it.

But the light cannot cause interference...like be too bright, such as those who don't remember to turn off their brights on their cars at night when approaching oncoming traffic! Or a spotlight operator pointing the thing in the wrong direction..or a traffic cop's flashlight shinning into your eyes!

So maybe the light bulb or LED will have to adhere to our good friends (a) and (b) after all.

To accept or not to accept....to interfere or not to interfere....these are the questions which will mystify mankind for eons to come. Perhaps one day when we achieve light speed and defy gravity...the warp drive will have to adhere to (a) and (b) too!

Gimme a break, guys ...

It all reminds me of a line from a movie spoken by Peter Fonda...."If God did not exist it would be necessary to invent him". Easy Rider.

He was quoting Voltaire ... I thought everybody knew that ...

Point made, tho' ๐Ÿ˜‰

"Ah yes, the fireside chat in Easy Rider, my favorite part of the movie."

The Venushans beamed back at them to let them know to put more wood on the fire so they could see the smoke signals better from their wacky tabacky sticks!
