ham's really annoy me at times. seems whenever i get on the local repeaters everyone seems to scatter and the frequency gets quiet. it's like if you don't conform to the norm topics no one wants to talk. what happened to accepting everyone's different interests??? mine happens to be part 15 broadcasting and different aspects of engineering but when i try to discuss these topics hams and hams who are also broadcast engineers seem to scatter off the repeater when i sign on because i happen to like a legal form of unlicensed broadcasting and like to talk about the engineering aspect of the hobby. they all of a sudden seem to have other things to do when just a few minutes before they were very active. it's very annoying. almost makes me want to let my ham license lapse.
excuse me. if i went through the trouble of getting a Nems Clarke AM FIM then i am certainly not trying to do anything illegal!!!!!
common sense seems to have gone completely out the window and no one can add 2 and 2 no more and figure who's trying to be legal and who is trying to do things illegally. we are all lumped into the same category.
then people wonder why i'm starting to acquire the depressed defeatist attitude i've gotten over the last ten years!!!!
I got so board with the "dry" conversations on ham radio a long time ago and is why I gave up on that. There is only so much I can stand listening to people rattle on about this kind of rig or that kind of coax or antenna blah blah blah.
BORING! (ZZZZZZZ)
Conforming is not a form of freedom. Might want to tell those stuck in the cement of the past hams that.

Don't assume that none of them have not done, or are not doing something not so on the up and up either. Unless they are being watched and monitored all the time, you only have their word they are legal.
Tell them to prove it!
At least you have your Nems FIM.
As you and others may have read elsewhere on this forum, some here even were balking at my use of the Motorola RD 2012 analyzer as being insufficient to take measurements..when the FCC recognizes that Motorola as an acceptable alternative to their Potomac's.
Ironically, if anything other than the Potomac's were not acceptable, then these doodoo gooders need to go pound down the doors of every two way communications center, every cable head end system, everywhere Potomac's cannot be found to be in use.
Toss out your IFR's right?
It would probably be nice to hear what the doodoo gooders have themselves and if it's a Potomac or not. If not..they got a lot of room to be talking eh?!

Technically I don't need HAM because part 15 is my size, and socially I avoid holding conversations on telephones, and HAM would only be an expanded telephone.
Sitting at a table in a restaurant is what I do for social interaction, and the only equipment required is managed by the restaurant.
But I love eavesdropping, and listen to repeater conversations, and once heard some good gossip on the 2-meter band about people I actually knew.
If the communications radios received cell phone calls....... but they don't.
