I read the article. I think you're right, it has some things to offer the Part 15 operator. I actually thought about using cell phones as a remote for high school football games, but I decide the quality would just be too poor right now ... though there are some high-end smart phones with phenomenal capability, like Sonoma's Four Track software for the iPhone:
... so, I'm convinced that the technology to make it happen will work ... but it's not for everyone.
I gotta go ..
