I now have a dedicated station request line tied to a gentner hybrid where i can put callers on the air.
Thanks to mark i now have liners announcing the line and email over the air at 5 past every hour 🙂
Very cool. Having your listeners call in and putting them on air acknowledges them and makes them feel good. I can remember the feeling when my friends heard me on air at a local station when I requested a golden oldie that people long forgot.
Dedications (a dedication show) is good if you know your listenable coverage has folks who are newly wed or in a new relationship. Now this was tried before when I lived so close to the library and businesses close to my station.
Shout outs really attract people’s attention for your showing appreciation for their support especially if they donate to your station in any way.
Hope you continue to make things better at your station.
Not only does doing dedications garner interest but so does having your listeners do their own commercials.
I run ads for all our local businesses free. I do everything I can to get the business folks to record their ads themselves. I show up at their shop with my handheld digital recorder and let them record. I take 'em home, edit as needed and ad backgroudn music, etc. Then, not only do they feel a part of it, when their friends and family hear it they tell them "hey I heard you on the radio..." Plus it makes the station sound better with more voices on the air.
I even get the librarian to record PSA's for library events, etc.
Involve the community. Good for them. Good for you!

For those not fortunate enough to have a dedicated line for callers and/or a means to get callers on air, you can use ZenoLive which gives you a dedicated line, and offers other features as well - and it's all 100% Free. It's a great addition for any station https://www.zenolive.com and don't forget their sister free service https://www.zenoradio.com for your listeners who are out of range and without internet.
