Hello, all you fellow part 15ers. I recentyly got myself a Broadcast
Audio Console. Unfortunately, it did not come with the power supply.
My first question...does anyone know where I could obtain one? My second
question is...could it possibly be moderfied to work without this
separate power supply?
Uh, Jack, what Broadcast Audio Console is it?
Hi Jack ...
Agreeing totally with Rich. Your question is unanswerable without knowing what you have.
How old is the console? If it has electron tubes, you'll need a power supply with more than one voltage; B+, bias, filament, etc.
If it's solid state maybe a single voltage or possibly a +/- and some logic level (5 volt for older stuff).
As above, what is it?
Thanks, Rich..
Here is all the info I have on the console:
Make: Broadcast Audio
Manufactured by: Rockwell International (1978)
Model: ES-172
Part: 6223647001
Type: 212P-2
Power: 105-125 Volts / 210-250 Volts
Source: 50/60 Hz / Phase
This is all I have on this thing. I really want to get it
working. I don't wanna have to trash it. Help me, help me.
Jack ...
It looks like it does require a dedicated power supply. I saw your request on another group site which showed one link:

No pictures of the back, but all the specs I could find show it needs a dedicated (well it's also apparently used on similar models) power supply for the console, plus a relay switch unit.
I couldn't find any other components for that rig, considering limited time to research. I hope your interest in it is as an antique ... My guess is that except for luck, this is going to be a boat anchor restoration project, so you will need time and patience and electronics know-how to locate the other vintage components & make it work. Even then they may require parts replacement, etc.
Even the only manual section I found just had some front pages, i.e., missing pertinent data and schematics.
I'm assuming this is the one you bought without the power supply, it says that the schematics were included with the sale.. If so, then the answer could be found there
Make a note for future reference that Radio Magazine has an old equipment manual archive started, but so far they only seem to have three manuals. Maybe someday more vintage manuals will be added. I have a few I could contribute but on the other hand my scanner is broken.
