Hello all,
My apologizes if this has already been asked, but I am new.
I was wondering what the best and cheapest company was for online streaming. I have a little sad transmitter that doesn't get maybe a couple blocks (all I can hope for :o) ) and I would really like to stream for my friends who live way further than I can broadcast.
If you all could help, I would greatly appericate it.

Try Audiorealm (www.spacialnet.com). They're about $20 per month.

We use SB Hosting Solutions @ 9.95 / mo. This is 64k for 10 users. We also use them for web hosting and domain registration. So far, the service has been good.

Hey All,
I called both Spacial and SB...and no one is picking up their phones....and it is the 5th of July....me thinks they took an extra day off :o)
I will keep trying.

If you have a broadband connection (DSL, Cable, etc.) why don't you just host it yourself.
You can use ShoutCast/Winamp software to do the job. The stream will play on most of the mp3 players and doesn't seem to load down the connection very much (depending upon how many people tune in at once.)
I use it for my station and it works quite well. To get around the problem of a "dynamic" IP address on my end, I use another freebie service that keeps track of my IP and that way I can use the same URL for the stream all the time even though my IP changes periodically.
Can't get much cheaper than that!
If you'd like, listen to my station at MRAM 1500 WEBCAST and see what you think.

Stream on!
I know a few people that go through MediaCast1. They have great prices if you'll stream in AAC+ format, and a 64kbps AAC+ stream sounds just as good (if not better) than a regular 128kbps MP3 stream!
I've been very happy with egihosting.com
Check out my stream at http://energy10.egihosting.com/593529
I did my own streaming for a while with Icecast on Linux. Due to bandwidth issues, I switched to a hosted stream using Stream Solutions in the UK. http://streamsolutions.co.uk. I pay them between $6 and $7 per month via Paypal for 10 slots of 48kbps stereo.
I think it's good to get people giving references for their stream hosts listing price and quality of service. There are so many out there that are probably a bad deal or service but you'd never know until you try it.
Good luck,
Scott
