The wheels are finally moving for my station. I am fixing to purchase an SSTran. I've emailed Phil Bolyn about the SSTran and I'm trying to get a price quote for a fully assembled package. What I'm writing about today is distance. I would like for anyone who has an SSTran to tell me what is the greatest distance you have heard your signal, whether using special recivers or just a regular walkman.

With my car radio, my best "local sounding" signal is about 3/4 mile, with the outer fringe (barely readable) at 3 miles. With a typical table radio, I get about 1/2 mile. I'm in a rural area, so there aren't many people under my umbrella. That's why we stream. Oh, please Mr. FCC... give us more legal power!

I feel the same way also. My station is in a rural area where my closest neighbor is about 3/10 mile. That doesn't seem too far, but my station's coverage will be similar to yours. Mabye the FCC will give us microcasters a little more slack on power and antenna restrictions.
