I'd like to get some feedback from those of you who are using audio processing software.
What are some programs out there that you're finding are easy to use and for the Windows 7 platform? I heard good things about Jamin, but from what I see, it looks more like a Mac program.
I have been happy with Stereo Tool. However it did not get rave reviews on other sites.
I use an oldie but still a goodie. VSTHost along with plug-ins - and there are a lot of them. I personally use Classic Compressor, Classic Equalizer & a stereo to mono conversion one. VSTHost adds minimal load to your computer (it's basically just a shell in which you run the plug-ins) and you can find pretty much anything you want in terms of plug-ins; a lot are free. The ones I use again add minimal load to my automation computer.
Stereo Tool is the masterpiece of Hans Van Zutphen and offers EVERYTHING the stand alone hardware units can do.
Any bad reviews were done by people incapable of understanding sophisticated concepts.
Stereo Tool with Winamp does work pretty well. The UK settings usually sound pretty good. I forgot which one I liked the best. Also Breakaway Broadcast does quite nice. Better yet if you want an automation program that is super easy (Not Free however) and has a prevision for an FM Transmitter alongside you can stream your station over the net NextKast is the way to go. Way easier and less buggy than Sam Broadcaster. I use it on my station and it has a built in Audio processor that compresses the sound which is ever better for those of you who use Transmitters. There is a basic version and the pro version which the pro version has the two sound cards support. It allows you to check out songs and listen to songs before airplay and yet the Internet and Transmitter is not affected in any way. I have helped the developer of this software and I swear by it as it was written with my station in mind. So check it out http://nextkast.com and tell Wenston The Legacy sent you.
I'm using Zara Radio free version 1.6.2 for my automation, and it works pretty well. However, it doesn't have any kind of audio processing other than automatic gain control, which keeps the volume levels pretty consistent between audio files. No provision for equalization. I'll check out your site later this evening. Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
I also use Zara v 1.6.2 and I use it WITH Stereo Tool DSP Plugin!

I was going to issue this knowledge to the ALPB Website but I'll sneak a peak now for this website.
Get Winamp V 666 or later (it is available!), install the Stereo Tool DSP Plugin and ALSO find and install the LineIn Plugin (link available on my website).
You will also need Virtual Cable, but all serious broadcastsers should have that...
Open Zara, send its output to Virtual Cable, Set the LineIn Plugin to patch Zara through Winamp and now you've got it all!
There is also a 2nd way to do it, but one thing at a time.
The other way Zara can be used with Stereo Tool is to download tha STAND ALONE VERSION of Stereo Tool (not the DSP Version) and use a stream encoder like BUTT to drive your web server. I did it that way for awhile, and as I recall Virtual Cable was also needed to make all the patches.
