The next regular meeting of The ALPB on TeamSpeak is this Saturday July 18th at 9:00 pm EDST (Sunday 0100 UTC.)

I've been so busy trying to keep up with all the posts here that I didn't notice how the time has flown by again.

I'm pleased to mention that The ALPB is now on Facebook.  A tip of the Top Hat to ALPB Member Station Atrain, WHAR of New Jersey.  As quick as the idea to go on Facebook came up at our last meeting, Anthony quickly put up a Facebook page for us.  Check it out at The ALPB on Facebook.

Lot's of discussion at the last meeting regarding all of the FM power level testing.  I'm sure there will be plenty of follow-up regarding all the activity which is taking place.

Although pushing for regulatory changes is not the primary goal of The ALPB, as a group we have endorsed a position regarding the desire and feasability for increasing the field strength limits for Part 15 FM stations.  As higher levels are allowed in Canada and New Zealand with no interference problems, it is felt that some increase should be permissible.  Although the general opinion is this will meet the proverbial immovable object, there will never be change if you don't at least try.

Listening to some of our very early ALPB meetings broadcast by KDX Worldround Radio, The ALPB goals which our group emerged from revolved around improving the quality of our Member Stations.  The idea is to gain public approval by providing professional quality broadcasts.  Gaining public approval leads to public support of our license free, low power stations.  The end result for The ALPB to gain a position of respect within the broadcast industry and in the eyes of our various regulatory agencies around the world.

Remember our roots...  We must support change but not lose site of our primary goals.

With that, I hope to see more members turn out for the future meetings.

Thanks for your support!

Attendance at meetings has been growing and this is very healthy for the future of Part 15 radio.

Put yourself in the picture, join us and let's talk.

Please make sure I get the correct server name, I tried to log in at the July 4th meeting but the server name I was given via email was not available in teamspeak.

I had much to say including my suggestion of creating the Facebook account in a topic I had created. I was glad that it was brought up at the meeting in my absence.

I have many, many positive things to share with you all and hope I can log in for this meeting.

I have joined the ALPB, but still do not have access to post in the ALPB forums and no mention of me being a new member of the ALPB charter.

Please correct that if you can and thanks for allowing me to be a part of this wonderful community.

Bruce.

Mr. Bruce: Carl has not completed your background check yet.

We don't do background checks at ALPB.

Take John WDCX, for example. He has no background whatsoever.

Take me. I work in the background.

It's the foreground that matters with the ALPB.

The server used for the ALPB Teamspeak meeting is usually up all the time so you can do a test login anytime. This will allow problems to be found before "zero hour".

There are two things in Teamspeak which I find helpful. In the SETTINGS>OPTIONS menu you can play a test sound to verify that the received audio can be heard. This helps me since I have two sound cards installed and don't always remember which is connected to what.

Another feature allows you to check that your microphone is working and at the proper level. Use SETTINGS>SETUP WIZARD to set up the keyboard button to use for push to talk and to test the microphone operation and level.

Neil

Mr. Bruce, I have replied to your concerns via the Part15.us contact feature.

I checked The ALPB forum site for pending membership requests and find none.  You may need to try again.  I usually check everyday for new requests.

The TeamSpeak server is online at the present time.  I resent the address and password to you and we may need to arrange to troubleshoot this together.

I'll do what I can to rectify the situation as I would sincerely be pleased to have you join us at the meeting.

Okay MrBruce is getting senile.

I guess I need a seeing eye dog too.

I am having issues with finding the "I accept" the agreement button or whatever it is.

Is this the page I am supposed to be going to, to agree with the agreement? http://www.thealpb.com/

I have active Glaucoma and other eye sight issues, so sometimes I really have a hard time with visual clarity on certain web pages.

It says "Read and accept the ALPB Charter."

I believe this is the charter? http://www.thealpb.com/Assets/Documents/ALPB%20MISSION%20STATEMENT.pdf

If so, where do I agree to it? That's what I seem to be over looking.

I'm sure it is there somewhere, it's just that it is not sticking out for me to see it amongst the other stuff on that page.

Sorry for being a dummy, but I really am lost and need help.

Oh, one last thing, I am sure there is an on site messenger, but I can't seem to find that either.

If an email is sent to my registered email address, yes I can get that, but as for an on site personal messenger, I have no clue where that is located.

I see navigation, but nothing there, that indicates a personal messenger feature is located there.

Bruce.

Oh, by the way, yes I did get the email from Bob - MRAM 1500 about the sever address.

I'll try again to see if I can locate it in TeamSpeak.

Regarding what radio8z suggested in post #6. Yes, I have the audio portion of teamspeak all setup and a push to talk button chosen, its just that the server name was not available when I tried it last 4th of July.

Okay SUCCESS I logged into it, I saved the server in the bookmarks of TeamSpeak.

Bruce.

For all interested, "Accepting" the ALPB Charter Document simply means you have read, understand and find the terms agreeable to you.

There is no button to click or signature to send in.  Rather, in your mind you are comfortable with what The ALPB stands for and asks of it's members per the Charter.

Simply stated we only ask that if you operate a license free, low power station that you follow the rules of the regulatory agency which oversees this type of operation.

And oh yeah, we'd really like to have you participate in the meetings as often as convenient for you.  And, if you can't be there, just drop me a line every few months to update us on what's happening with you and your station.

Okay I am a dummy.

The area I was looking at is the ALPB General Discussion, that must be for moderator announcements etc.

I found the ALPB forum..... my bad.

I didn't realize it was on another forum, it turns out I'm already a member under the name MrBruce.

Bruce.

Glad you gotter' figured out.  Maybe I need to reword the "acceptance" procedure.

And yes, I see MrBruce on The ALPB forum member list.

By the way, very nice studio you had there as shown in the pix on another thread.  The envy of many basement DJ's!
