Mark knows his architecture, and it's a fact that windows are designed to be raised and lowered, except sealed windows in high rise buildings.

Painting windows shut is a sloppy painter's error and should be repaired, as Mark said for circulation, and also as an emergency exit in case of emergency.

It sounds like the landlady is not qualified for her job. She is trying to lower the standards of her renters down to her level.

Much the same thing happened on the GOP Debate on CNN.

I'm on SSDI - - Social Security Disability

Insurance.  Legally blind, etc. etc. etc.

Last winter we ran out of heating fuel.

I put electric heaters up in the bedrooms.

I thought that would be OK for a couple of

days.

But I came down into the dining room the

next morning and it was 33 F degrees in that

room...  The kitchen faucet was frozen and so

was the water in it.  I warmed it up with a

hair dryer.  I got some fuel that day, started

the furnace back up, and a pipe burst out in

the garage.  There was steam all over the place

and no pressure in the heating pipes to heat up

the radiators.  We finally got it fixed a few days

later.  It looked like a really bad break in the pipes,

but then we figured out how to make it better without

spending as much money.

We are in forclosure.  A little less than 3 weeks left in

the house.

We have a place to go.  I have no idea how it will

work out, though.

We are trying to figure out how to move all of this

stuff, but all you guys know what I mean.

Why am I telling you all of this?

You are not alone.

At least everyone in my family is OK.

There will be radio of some form in

the new place.  I will be very low key,

though.  I'm OK with that.

You are not alone.

(OH KRUD - this has nothing to do with

the thread.)  Sorry about that.

AH HA!!  I can fix that problem!  So the

CM-10 runs too much power.  Well, one

can fix that with attenuation, or a short

antenna, or a "screen room" HAHA.

My big question is:  Is it clean??  What happens

when you put it on a spectrum analyzer??

What do you see?  That is a concern of mine.

If anybody has already answered that question

I apologize.

I heard somebody say lately that it wasn't a

great idea to put the aircraft band (108 to 136 MHz)

right next to the FM BCB.   I have to agree with that.

Spurs from a bad transmitter could cause trouble.

I see that the guys over at Hobbybroadcaster are going to retest the CM10 and WH3 "for comparison and to be sure proper testing's performed".  They obviously haven't even bothered to read the methodology of the testing done here by Tim, including the retesting.

I guess they can't claim ownership of the testing results if they haven't done anything themselves.

Comparison is good.  But as for the last part of that statement, if I were Tim, I think I'd be shaking my head right about now.

I posted about Tim's test over there and as of yet my post was not approved. I have no issues with him testing the Whole House FM Transmitter 3.0 and Decade CM-10 again, and he even is going to do a range test of a 100% FCC part 15 compliant transmitter at 100% max compliance. This should be interesting. I'm hoping it will show more than 150 feet. Plus I noted that the new revised SainSonic AX-05B on its -48dbm (out of box setting) will not even reach my porch and that is not anywhere close to 150 feet. I'm curious as to his comments. Hope I don't get banned over there but I'm curious to see his perspective as now he no longer recommends the Whole House FM Transmitter saying that the company is shady and the fact that it has a secret high power level makes it questionable. Well if that is the case better question C. Crane too. Just about any transmitter can be hacked or turned to high power. The Radio geeks will find a way if they want to do so. But I've also posted about the new part 15 rules talking about Wireless mics and the fact that when I was a kid I had a 49 Mhz Wireless mic that plugged into a transmitter and came with a receiver. I bought a attenuating patch cord and a stereo to mono adapter and used it for wireless DJ stuff and my friends use to listen on their scanner. I never got a NOUO for that. Probably won't happen. And there is nothing saying the wireless mic has to be Mono. Not only that but I read the term other white space devices. So I assume it could mean Audio link transmitters. It may not be called a wireless FM Transmitter but 87.9 Mhz is FM in my book or shared with FM. We'll see Bill's stance on that I'm curious from an engineer's view. Just prey for me I don't get banned. I'll try and behave myself over their too.

theLegacy: yeah, they don't seem to want to acknowledge anyone else's work except their own (unless they criticize it, of course).  I don't have any problems with them testing the same or other devices; I just have a problem with the inference that it wasn't done correctly 'over here' in the first place.

I'm curious, do they have to approve any new member's posts or is it more general than that?

Yes I was a little disappointed in that back-handed comment which I guess passes the webmasters muster. I think it encourages negativity.  For the record, I was correctly placed in my place for a comment I should have kept confidential. My rank has been reduced to an E-1 as a result.  Never the less, Tim is also a qualified BE using calibrated gear, so I rule the comment is Smug.

John, all I can say is - LOL!  They actually have ranks there and you can be reduced for doing something that in the eyes of the webmaster is incorrect?  Yipes!  Seems pretty juvenile to me.

If you do something wrong, then sure, it's OK to be admonished.  That's how you learn and move forward in all things - by making mistakes (unless, of course you don't feel it's a mistake - then you just move on).  I've made more than I care to remember.  Those who don't admit that they make mistakes end up being stuck in the mud, never getting anywhere.

Bill's minions have now leapt into the fray.

They're a major cause of most of the negativity between the two sites.  Any time anyone has anything critical to say about Bill's opinions or those of his close cohorts, a few 'over there' start crapping over anything and everything without regard to facts and what was actually said.

I don't know if Bill encourages them or not, but he really needs to muzzle them (and have some stern words with at the very least the cohort who uttered that phrase that I quoted earlier).  It is difficult to cooperate with people that continuously hurl insults across the Internet divide.  That's assuming that they want to cooperate.

In any event, Tim has now joined the discussion 'over there', which is good.

For the record Bill has to approve any comment I make in order for it to be posted.  the comments I made about Tim's tests you'll probably neve see from me but its OK as he is on there and can post his results to Bill's site.  I'll be interested to see if Tim's comments will be allowed to be seen by the public.  I like the freedom to discuss the hobby without censorship of every post before it can be published.  I know spammers exist and those folks can post stuff that the FCC would not like and I get that so he has to be careful because he invited the FCC to come and lurk or chime in on the board.  That said in itself makes me sure to behave over their unless I want a fat NOUO.  Its all good to have friendly competition but hey its a hobby and not a contest to see who is better than the other.

I don't really have a lot of plans to pursue any sort of heated discussion over at hobbybroadcaster. I did my tests, took my notes, shared my results and my work is done.  I feel 40+ years of broadcast engineering has prepared me to test a transmitter with equipment I'm familiar with. I got my units at retail so I know they weren'd hand picked or tweaked before testing, and I double tested with two standard meters, both of which are used by the FCC on a regular basis.  The R-506 with it's antenna etc cost more than most people pay for a car. This backed up the results from the trusty and time tested FIM-71.

There's not a lot to add to that 🙂

The wholehouse could be sold to people in countries like New Zealand for example where more power is allowed so that's the reason for the high power setting but it should be not "secret" and should be mentioned in the operating instructions for countries where higher power is allowed. The fact that it's not mentioned is what causes some from the "other" site to frown on it.

I just went over there and read through the banter about how they are going to bring in big New York engineers to "do it right."

Talk about a class operation, if their conversations were comedy scripts in a broadcast college course they'd actually get a D.

Sorry Tim, but we won't know the real score until Bill has checked it out.

Thank god the species is going extinct.

Notice my arche enemy RFBurns gets to say what ever he wants and it passes muster, even if he accuses an innocent person of operating a PIRATE radio station without iron clad evidence.

Did you know a studio can be illegal? You don't need a transmitter to be a pirate just operate a studio minus a transmitter and you're a blatant pirate.

Me calling him a "bully" got me banned, now I'm "Banned for the better of man" At least that's what it says next to my name over there on any of my former posts.

(Rolls eyes) LOL!

Bruce.

And hey, do you know, they have the 'latest in web security' (which I highly doubt).

Anyway, whatever they've done doesn't let some older browsers use their site.  I guess just because banks and security firms allow customers to conduct potentially multi-million dollar business with those browsers isn't good enough for a hobby radio web page.

That place is a joke, reminds me of Romper Room or Bozo's Bigtop.
