After carefully composing a post under "Transmitter Talk" I hit submit and after a delay the screen refreshed and the post was gone.
I don't think I'll try again for awhile, and it was a never-before-asked question about power/pattern switching at sundown.
Sorry you are having trouble with some of the nuisance things on this site.
That kind of thing has happened to me a few times, and yes it's frustrating.
I've found that it's a good idea before hitting the Submit button.. to first hit "Ctrl A" (select all) and "Ctrl C" (copy). That way if it happens you don't have to start all over; you can just hit "Ctrl V" (paste), and everything you had just typed in will be back.
As long as we're complaining -- and I really don't like to as I know this whole thing is a labor of love --
This site is painfully slow. A click on a topic, going to the log in page, waiting for the log in to happen, takes on average 12 seconds. If I click on a different thread on the right hand side of on this page, it will take 12 seconds before anything happens. It takes over a minute to come to the site, log in, load the forums, load the media topic, type the Oompah Hour update and click submit. This seems really odd to me. Even my clunky Hotmail and yahoo accounts load up in fractions of a second.
At first I thought maybe because I'm one of the few on a Mac, that perhaps my OS or browser wasn't jiving with the site software. But be in Safari or Firefox at makes no difference. At work, on a PC in Chrome or Internet Explorer it makes no difference. These are all current computers with current browsers and very fast internet.
What's up with that?
Car -- what do you want to know about pattern changing? I've been working at and engineering a nighttime directional AM for 30+ years. maybe I know something useful?
Now for the 12 second delay for this to post.
TIB
FYI the above post actually took 25 seconds to post!

Good suggestion, Rich Powers, about "copying" a submission before seeing it vanish.
Tim, welcome for your weekly Oompah Hour drop-off, and thanks for all the site slowness reports.
Picking up some radio business, Tim asks: "Carl — what do you want to know about pattern changing?"
Good. I will RE-POST my question under "Transmitter Talk"!
And I have "Copied" this just in case.
Ya, I find this too, everywhere else loads in one second or so but this site is like Tim says.
Also while we are complaining how come I can't post a picture on here from my camera like it works anywhere else.....put picture into computer into my pictures, select file from here and open. Even when picture is within max. size and is the correct format. I even put picture elsewhere to have a URL but still didn't work. Wanted to post a picture of my set up and couldn't a while back.
The slowness is a little annoying and quite out of the norm, but on the other hand it's a bit neglostic, it reminds me of when I bought my first 56k modem!
But seriously, I hear the site had suffered some kind of virus attack or something a few months ago and suspect its current condition has something to do with the aftermath of that. I'm sure it must have reeked havoc on the forum code, and it can't be an easy thing to remedy.
Mark, don't know why you're having a problem with posting pictures with either a URL or by adding an attachments. It seems to work fine for me.
Considering that this is a "Labor of Love" and the fact that's Wordpress, it find it hard to complain at all. Someone had to pay for the domain name. Perhaps the users should kick in and pay for real web hosting site.
That's my complaint.
Now get back to work.
