  • I posted about these "Radio Mind Control" comic strips years ago but never could figure out what the story was behind it because the strips gave no author or any other indication of its origins, but I found them running as a  weekly feature (all the same 5 parts) in newspapers just about everywhere across the nation during 1968. Funny thing is, they seldom appeared on the comics page, - well, sometimes they did but usually appeared in the regular news sections.. I never could make sense of why nor the source behind the strips.
1The Fresno Bee The Republican Mon Jun 17 1968
2The Daily Argus Tue Jun 18 1968
3The Sacramento Bee Wed Jun 19 1968
4The Fresno Bee The Republican Thu Jun 20 1968
5The Herald Statesman Fri Jun 21 1968

Well came across these comics in my files again today (in my google drive) and  ran a search for info again - this time I faired better:

The story behind them...

(Excerpts)
The original Frontiers of Science strips ran from 1961 and was significant as a means of communicating and popularising science. It was Australian and developed from the University of Sydney, ...In total 939 weekly episodes or "pulls" - five strips, one for each weekday, each around a particular topic... Within a few years it was available throughout the USA and Canada, and was translated and available internationally through over 600 newspapers..."

@richpowers  Me! Me! I thought it was interesting. And if I'd run across that in a newspaper I would also, like you, be puzzled about what message it was meant to convey and who was behind it and all the questions you had.

Somewhere in the past I remember a science fiction short story in a book about being able to send messages to people's minds, opening a terroristic ability to send commercial advertising that the audience couldn't turn off.
