As you know I've been researching part 15 AM history and use for a while now. One of my favorite story is about these twin boys, who at 8 years old began their own station in New York and based in their mother linen closet. From 1947 through 1949 they were repeatedly featured in numerous magazines and news papers, appeared on tv and radio. Licenced stations would give them copies of their scripts and theres lots of cute little stories about them. I tried several times over the years to try and find what became of them or if they were even still alive, but with no luck.
Strangely, for no particular reason, about an hour ago gave it another go.. and found a post with pictures from their 90th birthday party on Instagram.. it was them! Their still alive! So I signed up for Instagram and connected with Jay's wife who had posted the pictures.. She was weary about me at first.. Who are you she says, you have no post... after explaining myself to her she gave me his number told me to call him tomorrow after 11am at his office!
I find this so exciting! Here one clipping but I have about a dozen different articles from the time.. it's a fascinating story.. now I'll be able to fill the gaps
I posted that picture to her. Even she had never seen it!
Wow, that's amazing that you were able to track them down, and that they are still around. I would be excited too if I were in your shoes @richpowers! Please report back after you have spoken with them tomorrow. That would make a great human interest interview if you could record them. I wonder if Radio Survivor would be interested............?
Well.. nobody seems to realize my private post 20 hours ago.
