I always thought the first recording was Edisons voice. Evidently not, it was Édouard-Léon Scott de Martinville singing a nursery rhyme which recorded onto sheet of paper.. (a similiar technique was devised in the 1940s, I remember an article about it with pictures, but it never took off).
Anyway, so I guess this is not only the first voice ever recorded. but the first song ever be recorded as well. Problem was it only recorded, there was no way to a totally listen to it! The recording sounds pretty creepy to me, but it is royalty-free, so if you want to play it on your station, have at it!..

"..A precursor to the wax cylinder, the phonoautogram took inputs for the study of sound waves, but could not be turned into an output device. How amazing then, that 150 or so years later, we can hear..."
