I hope you're still around somewhere, just taking a break.
It's too bad that it takes someone to disappear to recognize their contributions in a field of endeavor.
In Carl's case, it was his dedication to Part 15 broadcasting. He was one of the only ones still around on this, the oldest Part 15 Forum, from back when I joined in 2006, and he participated actively until recently.
He was one of the co-founders of the ALPB, and pretty much kept it alive until it gained traction. I still remember his solitary posts on the ALPB Forum, with no else around answering. I believe he also created the ALPB website, although I could be mistaken about that. I do know he was involved in maintaining it for a time.
It's too bad about some of the revisionist history being bandied about. Carl didn't suffer fools gladly, and quotes like "Carl, I like how you think" were true, until the individual saying that didn't, and effectively drove Carl away.
Anyway, Carl retook (sic?) up residence here, and was again pretty much the lifeblood until more started joining in.
Carl was first and foremost a radio announcer, and he produced numerous shows highlighting those talents. I think it's safe to say that few in what we do have even approached his output, which includes the shows Blare on Air, The Low Power Hour, Blair Lite, etc. Agree with him or disagree with him, when he had something to say he said it. And he said it well.
If he doesn't reappear, I'll really miss him. I don't think we'll ever be able to completely fill the void of his absence.
Good luck Carl, wherever you are.
Carl would play programs of Tom Mischke's at one time and I saw where Tom quit his program and started a podcast for his early or first employer earlier this year. Coincidence with Carl being AWOL?
@herman_sampson Hello. Are you new to the Forum, or have you been around a while and just joined today? Whatever is the case, it would be great to know more about you, your Part 15 station (if you have one), your interests, etc. It's always good to see new members.
In answer to your question, yes, I believe it's a coincidence. I have not found any evidence that something has happened to Carl. My only conclusion is that he's stepped away for a while, reason unknown.

Come on.. I find it hard to conclude anything else. I feel reasonably certain he's passed. It appears pretty evident to me.
Nice to meet your Herman, hope to hear more from you, whoever's you are!
My only direct connection is as a listener, though my father was an AM broadcast engineering technician, retiring about 1986 (he demurred if someone called him an engineer, he never felt he qualified for "engineer", only "technician". I still have his WWII era SW receiver and radios he assembled. I suppose by now almost all technician work is mostly automated.
