@richpowers, maybe try the St. Louis phone directories. But he may not be in St. Louis proper he could be in the St. Louis area which could be any number of places. He had his own house I think so maybe you could look up or get in contact with property owner registries in the St. Louis area.

An archive.org Wayback Machine capture of the KDX website, 2008, shows that Carl was affiliated with "Terrestrial Broadcasting Service, Inc". The Missouri Secretary of State shows a bunch of filings for this corporation that includes an address in Saint Louis County for the business "registered agent" and officers. I inferred that Carl was a surviving partner of the business, but retired, because he mentions some details without naming himself as the retiree on the KDX wayback capture.
Carl has some rambling comments there that say he had servers in Chicago, IL an elsewhere at one point. It's possible some kind of business record can be found for Illinois, etc.
That's all the farther I've dug without putting on my skip tracer/P.I. hat and heading to a courthouse in Clayton, MO. I am in Missouri and am often in Saint Louis County.
It's maddening the lack of available info and not knowing anything at all but I hate to say it appears readonable to assume Carl has probably been kidnapped by the grim reaper and we wont be hearing from him again.
Please let me be wrong.
I used to have an archive of almost all his Low Power Hours but lost it all when I got locked out of my old google drive account.. Maybe some can be retrieved via the Internet Archive, but I doubt it because he was always moving around his audio archives and he self-hosted..
Certainly there are some of us that still have some of the mp3s?
There's got to be an easy way of finding an answer to this mystery. Carl's last post was 24/01/2025 8:06 pm when he paged Johnny C. concerning a Zara playlist problem.. then never heard from again.
I tried searching Ancestry for obituaries after January 24 2025 with the last name "Blare" and turned up only two results. one was female, the other was a guy named Adam who was only 45 and in Cleveland (I had tried Carl and Carlton Blare without results, so I speculated possibility that Carl was maybe his middle name or a nickname).
This is frustrating to me. I'd like to know with certainty. If he has died, which I suspect is the case, then it shouldn't be difficult to find record of it online. I know, or at least think I know that Carl is not simply taking a sabbatical from the forum or anything, something has happened, he has never dissapeared more than a day or three in the last 20 years here.
This shouldn't be a mystery. What happened to Carl?
And who has an archive of his shows? More specifically, the Low Power Hour episodes? Many of them were gems.
The great Sherlock Holmes, through Arthur Conan Doyle, once said:
"When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth."
Has anyone considered that the name "Blare" is very appropriate for an on air radio personality?
Carl loved to create characters, through which he expressed his opinions, from Buster Boatrocker (his barber) through to Flotilla something or other, his private secretary (can't remember that last name right now, although I will (ah, transitory memory). He once told me that he's kept these characters through the years, from his DJ'ing days.
So if Blare is also one of his "characters" with real life stuff mixed in, we may never know what has happened.
If he's decided to walk away, and I can understand that, I've considered it more than once, then best wishes in whatever he has decided to do.
And if he really has passed on to the great radio station in the sky, I hope he continues to get lots of listeners and enjoyment doing his "thing" there.

Yes yes, I have considered that David. He was always vaque with the reality on both his characters and locations.. That thought has come to my mind several times, it may not even his real name. His locations were World round radio, the internet building, center of bla bla (blare blare?) galaxy, etc..
Key excerpts from KDX site archive:
"The name "KDX" is derived from two standard prefixes from the U.S. radio lexicon: The letter K is the designated call sign for radio stations located west of the Mississippi River;
the term DX stands for "Distance Unknown" in radio communications. Typical use: "What is your DX?" = "Where is the station located (in terms of distance)?"
..Regular KDX programming began on June 1, 2007... October 17, 2010, when KDX was recognized as the personal vanity station of Carl Blare, ....relocated to a private server inside the Internet Building
KDX Worldround Origins
Founded in 1959 as a radio production company named Terrestrial Broadcasting, the service evolved into an audio, video, print and most recently streaming radio service. During the 1970s our slogan was The Most Medium Sized Recording Studio in the World. From this stage we stood Ahead of the Future, until most recently when our mantra became Slow but Better. The original Company is commercially defunct following the death of one partner and subsequent retirement of the other. KDX Worldround Radio continues as a personal home appliance.
Yours through thick,
Carl Blare,
acting lord at large"
The internet archive shows its last crawl and capture of his website February 16, so we know his home server was still active.. Just now went back to the earliest crawl in 2008 and found this bit of info on his "About" page that doesn't appear anymore and may be legitimate..
"KDX streams from a server on Forest Park Drive in Chicago, Illinois, USA."
a google search tells me this about it:
"Forest Park is a suburb of Chicago located approximately 10 miles west of the city's downtown loop, in Cook County, Illinois. It is a village with a population of about 14,000, known for its unique blend of urban and small-town character. Forest Park is served by the CTA Blue Line's Forest Park terminal, which is the line's western terminus..."
This coincides, or rather relates to his avid railroad hobby - which incidentally, according to him, was the original reason he started his home web server, as an online video feed of his model train city, but then he realized he could add an audio feed too, and that's when he decided to start a radio stream..
So, it appears his home is not St. Louis Missouri as has been suggested, but actually in Chicago Illinois...
So now we can say with certainty that we dont really know what became of him or where he ever was..
Perhaps browsing some railroad hobby forums might turn up some clues..

Carl Lee Blair Obituary
An obituary is not available at this time for Carl John Lee Blair. We welcome you to provide your thoughts and memories on our Tribute Wall. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Carl John Lee Blair, please visit our fl...
Do they have part 15 in heaven?
How about in hell?
Doesn't matter, Carl was an atheist, he believed neither so KDX is probably broadcasting in his own created reality somewhere else, and probably extended his ground lead by now...
I'll have to look him up when I go
I didn't sign the obit guest list yet, want to make sure it's him. I presume they're going to update the obit at some point, then we should be able to figure out for sure its him.
It's not him - that Carl Blair was 45 years old. If our Carl had a recording business in 1959, he would be somewhat older than that.
I started this thread as an attempt to get in touch with Carl, as I hadn't heard from him in a while. We did periodically chat.
It appears that Carl went out of his way to obfuscate his real identity. I think I want to honor his wishes, and not pursue this any further, no matter what has happened.

What makes you say te guy in the obit was 45 years old? I dont see no DOB mentioned.
As for protecting his identy after he's passed.. Well, I dont see the reasoning in that at all. I considered Carl a friend, more so than anyone else I know online. I intend to find out what became of him and consider it a honorable thing to do so. Even if he choose to spell his name Blare instead of Blair while online. There could b any number of reasons he did that, but it I doubt it was so we would'nt know his real name.. For all we know Ancestry could of spelt his name wrong (they havent even posted any info about him yet..
If you dont want to know, ok. But I do.
I had found that obituary in the specific funeral home website previously - born in 1979.
I would like to know what has happened to him, but prefer to continue to respect his wishes re privacy. If you want to find out, all the more power to you. But in any event, I feel that this Forum should respect his wishes for privacy as well.
After all, we really don't know what's going on.
@artisan-radio Ahh, I see what your looking at.. https://www.tributearchive.com/obituaries/38259488/carl-john-lee-blair
Yeah, I don't think our Carl was a 45 year old black man with a couple little kids.
So apparently your right, that's not him.
Just noticed something :
The one I found was Carl Lee Blair, posted his death March 25 2025 (which I had interpreted as DOD) in Chicago, no age yet or additional info specified .
Artisian found was Carl John Lee Blair, shows he died February 19, 2025, also Chicago. Age 45, pictures show he was black with little kids.
I'm guessing these are proubly the same person and Ancestry was just late to post it, even though one shows two middle names. But who knows , maybe there were two Carl Blairs in Chicago that died within 35 days of each other. But I think both.links probably are the same person.
