One of my favorites is The StarWars Intergalactic Droid Choir & Chorale - What Can You Get a Wookie For Christmas (When He Already Owns A Comb)?
Artisan, your post reminds me of the imfamous
dreaded StarWars Christmas special that only
aired once, on CBS, I think -- in... 1977?
It was Awful. Every once in a while somebody puts
it up on YouTube. Then right away - somebody
else takes it down. Probably CBS.

So my Part 15 AM station will be running
at Christmas time. I'll be on 1590 kHz, running
Christmas music.
It won't be going very far, but it will be heard
through the vintage radios in the house.
Oh - my Star Wars post above - I guess it's
really called the Star Wars Holiday Special.
And although I'm not crazy about it, somebody
must think it's OK.

Some things are so bad, they're good.
I'd never even heard of the Star Wars Holiday Special until your post, Bruce. After doing a bit of research, I have to say that it looks pretty bad, so it would be fun to watch.
Apparently, it was only aired on TV that one time. There was no home release and no rebroadcast due to overwhelming negative reaction.
I'll have to see if I can dig it up somewhere.
Try Bit Torrent, where everything else that's any good comes from 🙂 it's available on a torrent. It's been traded by tape swap and at sci-fi conventions for years I'd heard, but I never got a line on it until the 2000s through the torrent.
I like it, it's got quirky situations and music numbers, and it is wacky, but that's more by today's standards, but I think it fits into the 1970s TV maturity level well enough. People probably expected more out of something called Star Wars.
Found it on youtube, it's pretty awful.
to rip the audio track in up to 320k bitrate and download it. or "youtube downloader" firefox plug in to download the video itself
It's also available on Usenet. The one I found has amazing video quality - it's been digitally restored from film, I believe (remember that TV shows aired films back in the 70s, there was no digital then).
I'll have to look for that new and better version, that would be really cool to have a film transfer, as I've seen the work of restoration groups on the original Star Wars and so the Holiday Special would be great to have and see preserved in the internet.
The version I have is sourced from Beta or VHS magnetic tape, recorded by a consumer from TV. My ISP got rid of Usenet a few years ago saying that not many people were using it any longer, and they wanted to focus on services users really wanted, and I haven't subscribed to a server yet.
I found the "Zion Hybrid Edition" of the Holiday Special, one of the newer versions and am trying that one, size = DVD.
I know of one Christmas-related song I'll be playing, I Believe in Father Christmas, by Greg Lake, R.I.P..
I have an NPR version of Star Wars given to me by a friend. I'm not sure where he got it but it's on a 7" open reel.
The friend worked odd jobs one of which was for the Akron Civic Theater stage crew. He probably had some connection to the local NPR station.
Someday I'll transfer the program to MP3.
