This year I haven't noticed as much mention of Christmas Programming as in previous years.
As usual, as a noncommercial secular radio station KDX is ducking and dodging Christmas music and programs as best we can, but almost all our program sources do something Christmasy, some of which gets skipped but some of which makes it to air. And there are those who take the holidays off leaving us having to find substitute programs to fill the void.
KDX sees Christmas as a celebration of commercialism, an advertising blitz where even the carols, hymns and songs are commercial jingles underhandedly using guilt to sell, sell, sell, and egg people to buy, buy, buy.
Needless to say Christmas is also time to re-tell the same fable about a newly married couple giving birth to a son born out of wedlock and sired by a male God out of bestial fornication and yet no arrest warrant was ever issued.
Every not for profit entity in the on-line universe piles onto the frenzy by begging "donate, donate, donate". I can tell you right now if KDX was set up with a Pay Pal account this would be a solicitation for $$$.
WEFR will be running Christmas specials starting at 12noon Tuesday until sometime between 3-6 on Christmas afternoon...
