Version 1.6 of the Zararadio automation package is out. The application has a lot of new features and bug fixes. I have not downloaded the update yet, but will do so very soon. It does look like they removed Winamp plug-in support.

and add that application to the Software Listings page, duh!
I'll drop in the Radio Scheduler plug in for winamp, too, before that author disappears again...
3/15 update - #$@*& - looks like ver 2.07 of Radio Scheduler is gone... did anybody get the install client?
Anybody know how to schedule sweepers with the program. I'm new to automation programs and can't figure out what the 00:00:00 means in the sweeper scheduler. Thanks.

If you're looking for ZaraRadio ver 1.4.4 which supports plug-ins, there is a link to the installer file and English User Manual at my MRAM 1500 Webpage.
The link takes you to My Briefcase where you will find a folder with the files for download. The installer file is a ZIP file, the manual a PDF.
I printed the translated user guide that was on your site, Robert, but it didn't have anything about sweepers in it. This must be a new feature to version 1.6. Also, I can't print logs because of a font issue. Any idea what font the program uses? Other than those two issues, the user guide was very helpful. Thank you for the info.

Yes, "sweepers" is a new feature in version 1.6 not found in 1.4.4. I haven't had time to fiddle with 1.6 much but I did try the sweepers and the files don't play as they are supposed to, at all. I'll keep at it. Fortunately version 1.6 comes with an English User Manual. Unfortunately, info about sweepers seems a little vague.
As for the logging, in version 1.4.4, ZaraRadio creates a simple txt file. When opened in Windows Notepad, the font here is Lucinda. I took a quick look at the 1.6 log on a different computer and it came up in Courier. Both fonts are generally common to Windows. I don't find anywhere within ZaraRadio to choose the font.
I guess my question for you would be, what kind of error message are you seeing? What word editor program are you using? Are you opening the file from Windows Explorer or from within an editor program?
The message I get is:
"The requested file C:WINDOWSDesktopRic Radio Logs2006-04-06.log was not a valid font file."
Your guess is as good as mine.
I set it up to save the logs in that folder. Do you think that I should have set it up somewhere else?
If I can get this program to print logs, I can deal with the fact that I can't figure out how the sweepers work. I have events programmed right now for every 5 minutes with a wait time of 4 minutes and that seems to put a liner in between most of the songs. I really like the features of this program. If I was designing one, it would be very similar because I wanted something that was flexible enough to do live shows as well as run automation. This has just that flexibility, and it hasn't crashed my system yet. Of course I haven't tried it on my station computer yet - it's a little slow - 64 meg ram, P1 150 MHz. It is gradually being upgraded and I hope when finished to have 233 MHz processor with 256 meg ram. That should be pleny for me right now as I am not streaming. That's down the road a ways. Thanks for your help and dedication to part 15'ers that are just starting out.

Did you try opening Notepad (or some other word editor) first, then with Notepad open the log file?
I don't think it matters where you store the log files. I made a folder called Zara Logs in the My Documents folder; C:Documents and SettingsBerserkMy DocumentsZara Logs (Berserk is the user name.) But, I could have called it anything else and put it in the root directory C: also.
I duplicated your file path and it works ok. I can either double click the file name or right click and select "open" and the file opens in Notepad.
There may be a file association in Windows telling Windows that a file named *.log is a font instead of the text file that it is.
Try opening your word editor first and from there open the file C:WINDOWSDesktopRic Radio Logs2006-04-06.log and let me know what happens.
That worked. Thanks. I didn't try printing yet, though.

Ric, I did finally get a chance to try the sweepers feature in version 1.6. Pretty cool, though a little confusing the first time around as the User Manual is a bit vague.
The first hurdle was figuring out that you have to associate a "sweeper" file with the source(s) you want to overlap with it. This way the sweeper plays when a particular source is played rather than at a set time.
The "00:00:00" is the length of time after the source audio (another file, satellite input, etc.) has started. The confusing thing is that where you enter "Time" in the sweepers editor, it doesn't prompt you in that format. The time is entered in seconds and the program converts it to hrs:min:sec depending on how many seconds you enter, ie., 123 shows up as 00:02:03.
Glad to hear you got the log file figured out.
I'm running ZaraRAdio on a AMD K6/2 350 with 128 MB and it runs sloooow. The software runs great on my 2 GHz laptop. Good luck running it on a 233.

Has anyone seen the time/temp files in English anywhere?
I swore I'd seen a link to them already converted and named properly here on part 15 but I can't find it now.
On my MRAM WebPage click on the ZaraRadio link where you will find a link to the BSI time/temp download. You'll have to change the file names to work with the ZaraRadio syntax.
Thanks, I'll check it out.
BSI is at www.bsiusa.com Some of their software is really wierd when it comes to networks. It assumes that only the account that is logged on when the software is installed will be using it. Most also requires admin level. They do not suggest using a network for storage and playback, but I'm not sure why. Pulling the audio files across our network has been fine for a couple years of testing, both with mp3 and wave files. There doesn't seem to be a problem even when you have more than 4 files playing/recording all at the same time.
Never used the saytime/saytemp application, be we use Simian. I've been flogging a computer for 2 days trying to get Simian 1.7 and all the drivers installled correctly. Same thing happened when I installed 1.6 on our other computer. Even bought a current service plan so that I could install 1.7 on the first computer, now I'm a little concerned about upgrading.
