Zararadio help file in English???

I downloaded and installed the application, then went to the installed application folder. On my machine that was C:Program FilesZaraSoftZaraRadio. The name of the help file is ZaraRadio.chm

When you double click the ZaraRadio.chm icon, the help file will open in a window where you can select each page of the help file indivdually. Highlight and copy the text from a help file page you're interested in reading, and go to:

Paste that copied Spanish text into the "Translate" window, select "Spanish to English" from the drop down selector under the bucket, and you'll get a rough translation.

Well, I've figured a lot of it out, even posed the question on their support board and was told:

Slick and very sharp. Am testing it with my Metso now. Hasn't crashed yet running in BACKGROUND on my P4 3gig.

The test will be to move it all over to the little ipaq C500 that I bought for the station....

I've been running ZaraRadio for over a couple months and it's been fairly reliable. It's running on a 2.4 gHz P4 with 512 meg of RAM. I tried it on a 250 mHz with 32 meg RAM to see if it would run and it did. Unfortunately I couldn't even open the Sound Solution Plug-In on that machine, go figure. By the way, if you don't have that plug-in I'd recommend getting it.

I have had to reset ZaraRadio a few times. For some unknown reason, it starts running more than one audio file at a time. At that point, I have to restart the program. It doesn't seem to be much of a resource hog either. I can easily surf the web, edit Word docs and Excel files while it runs happily in the background.

I've figured out the automatic "Time" announcements, had to record my own. When I get time I'll do the "Temperature-Humidity" also. If you'd like a copy of the time files, maybe I can figure out how to zip them up and make them available.

The "random track" feature doesn't seem quite so random. Perhaps after it runs through a whole list you have to reload it. I have a directory with over 20, one hour TPR Blues Review shows. Seems like I hear the same ones to often for as many as I have.

I did the Google Translate on the help file thanks to your earlier post. When I figure out how to correct all the grammar and insert the visuals, I'll make it available.

Overall I'd say it's been a really good program. Considering the price (freeware) it's fantastic.

Work is progressing on the translation to English.

I have Googled all the text and organized it into the same format as the ZaraRadio manual using MS Word.

Presently the visuals are included from the manual but they are in Spanish. I have only to substitute the same screen shots in English from the running program.

Once all the grammar has been corrected (as the Google translation leaves much to be desired) I'll make it available.

Are you running Zara? I have been beta testing it since Friday evening and have found that it frequently repeats songs when in the Random mode. Like Winamp, if you insert "Events" to play at certain times, like stations ID's, etc., that seems to start the playlist cycle all over again thus the repeating of songs that were played previously before the Event. Have you experienced this?

I haven't had it restart the playlist, but I have had problems with it dropping events. On Sundays, I run several pre-recorded programs and of the four, it dropped two. I'm still trying to figure out how it deals with event priorities and ordering.

The complete (far as I can tell) ZaraRadio User Manual has been uploaded. It had to be stored at MyBriefcase as the file was too large (limit of 300kb) for the free 50Webs page. Click on the ZaraRadio link found at
http://mram.50webs.com/zararadio.htm taking you to MyBriefcase. Click on the ZaraRadio folder taking you to the PDF file which can viewed or downloaded. Sometimes, the MyBriefcase refuses to open the first time and you may have to click it a few times.

I've been running ZaraRadio for a couple months now. It has never crashed but has glitched a few times. As mentioned in another post, it starts playing more than one file at a time. Usually I have to restart the playlist and sometimes restart the program.

I run playlists loaded with several Random commands, Time commands and separate MP3 files. And yes, it seems that sometimes I hear the same file to often for as many as are in the folder.

I also use the Events to switch playlists on the hour. That keeps my playlists smaller, easier to manage.

The SoundSolutions compressor/limiter works great! Really fattens up the sound on the radio. I do hear the "tics" mentioned in the user manual if I overlap files.

I stumbled upon ZaraRadio a couple of days ago and have been testing it. Bob, your work on the English Manual is very much appreciated.

In tandem with our audio work, we've established a small English Language Resources for ZaraRadio page at http://zararadio.lownoiserecords.com/.

I took the liberty of posting your PDF manual there (we have tons of space and bandwidth), and also ripped an HTML version.

We have also begun coding, using the Robert Felmly translation, an English Language Compiled HTML Help File to replace ZARARADIO.CHM, so it can be integrated into the program. We will post this when it becomes available.

There is a Change Detect registration form on our ZaraRadio page if you wish to be automatically notified when the page is updated.

I'm a bit concerned that we might lose access to this app because author Mike Singer's web site has disappeared after a cryptic note about a dispute with Apple about his domain name - anybody know more?
